thing is. in my case i would like to trigger the show/hide not with the toggle element but with any link. eg. a top menu link.

Hello Kai,
The example on the old thread will demonstrate to show/hide the (deprecated) Content Area element upon clicking a Button element. This can also be replicated by using a DIV element and a Text element where you can insert the link text that show/hide the DIV element.
Hope this makes sense.
