Permissions editor not working - Complete access no matter what the settings

Hello,
in Cornerstone > Settings > Permissions

I’m trying to limit the Editor role to only edit text and images to change the CONTENT of those elements, not controls or design.

I’m giving these permissions:

  • Pages = publish, inspect elements, inline editing
  • Headline = Inspect
  • Images = Inspect

Anyway, the Editor has access to ALL the controls of ALL the elements in the pages.

What am i missing?
Thanks

Hello Andrea,

Thanks for writing in! I have logged in as an Editor. The permissions seem to work on my end. I can only click the elements and do inline editing. The element properties are not displaying. When I logged in as an Admin, this is what I am seeing in your Permissions:

You must enable the Inspect Elements if you want your editor to view some of the element settings in the inspector.

Best Regards.

Hi @ruenel , thanks for your answer but unfortunately the feature still doesn’t work.

What i’m trying to achieve is the old “Simple Mode”: the Editor Role SHOULD NOT have access to design controls (margin, padding etc.)

They should only have access to
Headline = inline editing
Image = “Source”

How to achieve that?
Thanks

Hello Andrea,

We have taken a closer look and I suspect that there has been a bug in the latest release. Disabling the “Design Controls” and “Customize Controls” should only display the Effects settings and the setup or the image source of the image element.

We will add this issue to our issue tracker and will be looked into by our development team. I cannot make any promises relating to a fix at this stage. I will add a note to the tracker referencing your report though so our dev team can see there are multiple reports of the issue.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi @Andreaco,

I wanted to reach out to let you know that these options should have been removed when we removed the simple/advanced mode distinction. Unfortunately, there isn’t going to be a way to hide element specific settings on a per user basis going forward - at least not in the way it was done before.

If you use Advanced Custom Fields (included with X and Pro) you could setup specific fields, and map them into your pages. Then you can prevent your users from accessing Cornerstone entirely, but they would still have access to the content you let them change.

There are some other things we have planned that will ideally let you setup your own controls in the builder and hide everything else, but I can’t speak to that in detail this early.
