Issues translating Cornerstone documents with WPML

After upgrading Pro to version 6.0.3 it seems that translating new Cornerstone documents with WPML doesn’t work properly.

Specifically, when trying to duplicate a document to translate it with a secondary language other than the default one, the following error is returned in the console: Failed to create WooCommerce Single. ReferenceError: xhrRequest is not defined.

However, all translations created prior to the update continue to work correctly.

Pro version: 6.0.3
WPML version: 4.5.14

Hi @vubai

Thanks for reaching out.
Sometimes the only screenshot doesn’t help us to recognize the issue you are having. And the mentioned issue can’t be replicated in the local environment too. The cause behind your issue might be the improper update of the Pro. I would suggest you deactivate and delete the Pro and reinstall it by downloading it from your Themeco Account once again, and check if that resolves your issue. If that does not help, there might be some different reasons behind your issue. I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

  1. Theme Related Issue
  2. Plugin Conflict
  3. Theme Update related issue
  4. Child Theme Related issue ** if you have activated it.
  5. CSS/JS Customization
  6. Disabling Cache
  7. Disabling CDN

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If none of the above help, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

Thanks

Hi @tristup

After performing the recommended debug operations, the problem continues to occur.

  1. The Pro theme was uninstalled and reinstalled by downloading it directly from our Themeco account;
  2. All plugins have been deactivated (excluding WooCommerce and WPML);
  3. No custom code or child theme is in use.

I’m adding the login credentials in the secure note.

There’s currently a few things we have at to fix with WPML. Right now you’ll have to do all creating from within WPML, but the linking between languages should work as expected. We are looking to fix and release it with 6.0.5.

Hi @charlie, thank you for your feedback: we’ll wait for the new Pro release, then.

you’ll have to do all creating from within WPML

What do you mean by this?
Is it possible to translate a Cornerstone document (WooCommerce Singles, in our specific case) directly within WPML? Or maybe do you mean we can do that by use the WPML string translation module?

Thank you again.

If you’re using the current V6 you just need to make sure all the WPML pages are in the WPML section of the admin dashboard. All the linking of different languages to different pages should already be there, we just need to fix creation of new translations in Cornerstone and layout translations. I believe this was originally setup where even archives could have a separate translation document. Implementing the String Translation API has been an idea I’ve wanted to do for a while. In most cases I think it’d be easier to use then managing two different documents.

Hi @charlie

After updating Pro to the latest version (6.0.5), we are still unable to create layouts translations correctly.

From your previous post, you said that it would have been fixed by 6.0.5, but we weren’t able to find any mentions to any fixes related to WPML within the latest changelog: could you provide, at this point, an updated timeline on that matter?

Thank you

6.0.5 ended up being a hotfix so next real release is 6.0.6.
We are nearly there with our WPML fixes, I’m shooting for 6.0.6 on Monday. If not 6.0.6 then 6.0.7 on 1/30.
I can keep this thread updated.
Thank you have a great day.

I am also unable to create Single translations from Cornerstone (Pro Theme).
Error message:
Uh Oh!
Failed to create Single.

Is this confirmed to be fixed in the next release @charlie ?

@nickgravel Yes, give it a go in 6.0.6 and let us know if you have any other issues on WPML.

Hi @charlie,
after upgrading Pro to version 6.0.7 translations are now working fine.

Any way to get passed this issue?

I have the exact same issue. My english version of one of most important pages is gone. I can’t believe how the latest update of Pro was ever approved with all these bugs.

I have updated the theme and I still can’t make this work. I’ve spent all day going crazy over this. PLEASE HELP!

This is the 3rd major bug I’ve encountered since the update and the other 2 are not solved yet either.

@nickgravel Can you confirm in the WPML settings what this post types translatable setting is? Should be at the bottom of the settings, these should be set to translatable automatically, but if not we’ll fix this issue. Are you using X or Pro? Setting them to the left hand column like the screenshot will get your past this issue. Saving the layout you are using can help as well as WPML will run updates.

@Lobsterass I will check your site soon in your thread.

That helped make some progress. I can now translate a layout, however the page on Cornerstone is all white with no functionality.

Here’s a screenshot of the translated page (plus a console error, maybe related?):

This is the original French version:

If possible can you create a new forum topic and in a secure note post access to this site? Does this exist between page loads? In the settings does changing the conditions help the header show up?
