"Installation failed: Could not create directory."

Hello all, I’ve transitioned my files over from an old server and all the files have been transferred. However for some reason I can’t install plugins. On my old server, I had ALL my plugins - after transitioning, It doesn’t show a single plugin installed.

Any ideas why? I tried to reinstall the plugin via WP, but it gives the “Installation failed” message. I transitioned all files via the cPanel tool.

Any help would be appreciated.

I also got this message when I went to the plugins page:

has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.

Hi Dominic,

Thanks for writing in! When did this issue happened? Did you do some updates? Usually this happens when you have renamed the plugins folder. Please log in to your ftp and browse to your ftp folder. And please make sure that the folder is writable so that you can install a plugin.

If you are having a hard time figuring the ftp, please provide us the following instead:

  • FTP hostname
  • FTP Username
  • FTP password

Please let us know how it goes.
