Error 500 – Site down

Hi!
I’m not sure this is the right place to ask, but since I have such a good experience asking you for support I hope you can guide me in the right direction.

Earlier today I tried to update an old site of mine because the Revolution Slider was bugged, and honestly it hadn’t been updated for a while. After this it suddenly went to HTTP ERROR 500 and has been this way since. Approximately 5-6 hours.

Do you have any guidance as to how to proceed to fix this? Should I reinstall the backup I downloaded via ftp? The best would of course be to avoid this, but I need to get the site up again for my customer.

Sincerely thanks for all help!

Håvard

PS.
The site in question is www.normisjonost.no

Hello Håvard,

Thanks for asking.

As the website is still down and because it’s a client website I suggest you to reinstall the backup you have. After that I suggest you to create a staging server (it’s always a good idea to test the update on a staging or test server) and upload a copy of website files in that and then update the website. In case you face any issues, you always have the option to troubleshoot the problem without effecting the live website.

I am also sharing link to out theme and plugin update guide, please take a look.
