Cornerstone Suddenly Stopped Working

I’ve been using Cornerstone for quite some time and recently I noticed that whenever I click “edit with Cornerstone” it just loops me back to the page and doesn’t take me into the Cornerstone interface.

Can someone on the X team please take a look at this for me?

The only problem I could see that it could plugin that causing the issue.You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If it were a plugin conflict then Cornerstone wouldn’t work for either of us, correct?

For some reason I am still not able to create a page using Cornerstone. What process did you use to create a test page in Cornerstone?

Here is the process I am using:

Pages > Add New
Click Cornerstone tab
Click “Edit with Cornerstone” button

This then loops me back to the visual editor and does not take me into the Cornerstone interface.

Are you experiencing the same?

I have tested again. Yes, we have the same process. I could not see any problem going to cornerstone interface.

Try to use other computer or try using incognito. This could be because of your computer caching or browser version issues.

I’m sorry but I just can’t get it to work. I’ve tried incognito browser as well as two different computers (mac and pc) and still I am unable to load Cornerstone when creating a new page.

You can see a screen recording of the issue I am experiencing here:

As you can see, every time I click the “edit with cornerstone” button it just reloads the entire page.

Any other ideas how we can fix this?

I have the same problem. I don’t have the option ‘Edit with Cornerstone’ anymore, not in the post and page overview and not at the post or page itself. When I enter Cornerstone through the dashboard and try to edit a page, it loads a blank page.

I don’t think there have been any plugin updates and I didn’t install any new ones.
Can you help me with this?

I couldn’t open Cornerstone either. Reverting back to an older version of CS worked for me. But now the mobile menu on the site does not work anymore.

It seems that there are multiple users experiencing this same problem since the latest Cornerstone / X Theme update.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one.

Any way we can get this fixed ASAP?

Your issue happened right after you have updated to the latest version of X 6.1.6 and Cornerstone 3.1.6. Since you have installed a caching plugin WP Super Cache, please always clear your plugin cache before testing your site. This can cause the changes to not take place on the front end. It will eventually show up when the cache regenerates, but it’s not ideal if you’re looking to see your changes immediately. Caching plugins are best to turn on only when you’ve finished building the site.

I have cleared my WP Super Cache many times since updating the plugin and the same issue continues to exist. I have also purged my CDN cache and attempted to load Cornerstone in an incognito browser window and it still does not work.

It’s not working because these steps aren’t correct:

Pages > Add New
Click Cornerstone tab
Click "Edit with Cornerstone" button

You need to publish the page first, so the steps are:

  • Add new page.
  • Enter any title for this page.
  • Click Publish button.
  • Click Cornerstone tab.
  • Click “Edit with Cornerstone” button.

This will work, it’s working for me for a testing page I’ve created on your website.

Ok, that worked. I didn’t know I had to publish the page first, and then go back in and use Cornerstone. Kind of an odd way of doing things but I’m happy that it’s working again.
