I have upgraded all WP & “X” theme & All plugins versions to latest. Then cornerstone builder got break (Which means its showing empty page builder). Please help.
Hi @mabel_loo,
Thank you for writing in, do you have caching features that are deactivated now? If so, please clear it so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.
If the issue persists, please try switching to the parent X theme. There might be something on your child theme that is causing the issue.
Lastly, since you’re site is coming from an outdated version, there might be a plugin conflict after the update, please do testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!
Hi @friech,
Thank you for your feedback.
I have tried all of your methods as above but didn’t work. The problem is still occurs.
Can you help on this?
Thanks.
Hi @mabel_loo,
There is a compatibility issue with wordpress 5.4. A fixed will be available on the next release. Can you try adding a temporary fixed shared on this thread? Check again after.
Let us know how this goes.
Hi @lely,
I have used the mentioned fix in my child theme but unfortunately issue still occurs. Please advise.
Hello @mabel_loo,
I have logged in to your site and I found out that there are 14 plugins that needs to be updated. Most of the time, outdated plugins create issues in your site. you will need to update all your plugins first. And since this is just a staging site, HummingBird plugin must be disabled. Caching and optimizing plugins should only be turn ON when you are done building the site and ready to go live. For staging sites, caching must not be enabled so that you can immediately see your site changes and edits.
Please let us know how it goes.
Hi @ruenel,
I have updated the all plugins except 4 plugins which are we can not update due to premium versions. I think those are not related with WordPress editor or cornerstone either. Also disabled the HummingBird. But issue still occurs. Please advise.
Hey @mabel_loo,
To clarify, your issue is when you open the page in Cornerstone, there’s no content.
That is usually caused by database operations by a 3rd party plugin or a web host. If you’re not aware yet, Cornerstone’s Page Builder data resides specifically in the Post Meta table of WordPress and data in that table sometimes get cleaned up by database optimizers. If you’ve just migrated your site including copying to staging, the Post Meta table might not have been included.
It is unlikely that updating Cornerstone nor X caused this issue. Can you remember what website activities you’ve done besides updating Cornerstone and X? Have you just copied your site from Live to Staging because if that is the case, you will need to copy your site completely most especially the database. You can learn how to do that here: https://theme.co/docs/how-to-migrate-your-site
The only solution to this because this is a database issue, is to revert your site from a time when everything was still working. Please ask your web host if they have a backup of your site you can revert from. Once your site is restored, copy your live site to staging again but this time, make sure to include the Post Meta of WordPress. Then, immediately check if there’s content in Cornerstone.
After that, do not update Cornerstone and X yet. You need to clear the caches of optimization plugins
and deactivate all of them before updating. If you’re unsure what optimization plugins you have, just deactivate all 3rd party plugins before updating.
Please note that you need to do that as we can do nothing for the current situation because as I’ve said, this is a database issue and there’s no way to get the Cornerstone Builder Data back.
Thanks.
