Cant see any text in cornerstone in the backend after update

Hi, all 30+ sites using pro have been updated. I went in to edit 3 of them, and I cant see the text:

This is happening across all my sites, some use caching etc, but other are simple with very few plugins.

I also tested by disabling all plugins, and it still happens.

Please help.

This is defiantly a bug, I got to the bottom of it. Most if not all of these sites use scroll effects, to animate the text in, making the sites more dynamic etc, If I disable said animations, the text re-appears.

This needs fixing in the theme, as I cant go through each site and turn that off in each bit of text that has an effect…that would take days!

Hi @oriol,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have visited the page from your Themeco Account, and it seems that the Effect Module might be a reason behind the problem in the Cornerstone. To investigate it further, I request that you please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

Thanks

There are many sites experiencing the same issue, however I will give you access to this one:

https://40fi.digital/

Also, I just updated the theme here, and now another issue, none of the buttons on the homepage work (apart form the cornerstone issue)

This clearly a bug with animation, is there a way to get my hands on the previous version to roll back on other sites?

Also, Id appreciate this getting looked into asap, its happening on ALL of my sites, and some of them need working on, which I cant, so Im having to tell my clients of the delay.

Login in details secure note.

Do you have animations disabled on your OS? Does this happen on all your computers?

I don’t see the issues with buttons. I don’t see any issues related to an empty page when editing in Cornerstone too. I disabled the only thing related to effects we changed in 6.7.8 in a custom build. Do you have issues on 40fi now?

Do you have “Force Scroll Effects” set to “Off”?

Hmm strange, so the button issue has gone now, and I can now see the text on the backend…and yes, when I click that toggle to in the text shows in cornerstone, but when its off it doesn’t, on all my sites, I haven’t set that, its just set to whatever the default was…so the issue is still there across my sites…

For example, on this site, the button in the header into section, and other sections below are not working:

https://earthlingsecurity.com/

So on 40fi if I disable the in out, ie, no button selected, as per standard, I can see text, but not on earthling security…

This is in all browser’s, but im seeing this in google chrome.

And no, no animations have been disables in my browsers…Nope, nothing like that in any of my browsers…and sites that where not updated, still work as normal, I can see text in cornerstone, and buttons work.

So this wouldn’t be a browser setting. It would be apart of the windows settings. Much like in this guide. Do you have any console errors? We’ll revert the feature if we can’t find a fix.

Im using windows 10, and all animations are on…I had my client ask me today what was going on with the buttons too.

So the buttons have an interaction animation on them, so I think the issue has to do with the animations.

It wouldn’t happen unless you had animations disabled somewhere. The site in your video also works fine with me for animations wise. I don’t know windows enough to help you without a guide. We’ll see if it comes up with other users. We’ll release a hotfix on Monday if we need to.

I had my client come to me with the same issue with the button not moving, or being clickable. Also, I think the theme needs to cater for a larger demographic, people can have different settings on their computers, and it should effect something online. Are you saying the text not appearing in the cornerstone is the same issue too?

Hey @oriol,

Like my colleagues, the buttons on both 40fi and Earthling sites are working. You mentioned you’re using Windows 10. Would you mind trying a computer with Windows 11 with an up to date Google Chrome. Please then ensure Javascript is enabled in Google Chrome because I suspect Javascript is disabled in your Google Chrome browser. You can also check if that’s the case.

By the way, Windows 10 has ended being supported so it is strongly discouraged to use it and we do not provide support for it.

Its working on windows 11, however, im still unsure as to why you are using OS resources for online content, some people will still be using windows 10 on older machines, do we know if the site is working on older apple devices?

Hi @oriol,

There are some accessibility settings in the Operating System, which need to be enabled to run the Effect module properly. For the older Apple devices, I have checked in the Browser debugger. It is working correctly. To be sure, you can re-verify it through any of the browser testing tools, or else you hire a developer who can assist you to do the customization, or you can avail of our newly launched service called One, where we answer the questions beyond normal theme support.

Thanks

I’ve just updated one of the sites I’m working on and it did exactly as @oriol reported in the original post. Mac OS / Chrome. The issue is in the Theme. 100%. I reverted to the previous version, and everything is back again. I’m using transitions to fade up elements. Anything with that applied fails to render within Cornerstone.

Hi @geoffmartyn,

Thanks for confirming that you are also facing the same issue. Our development team is looking into it and will release a fix as soon as possible.

Thanks

I actually don’t appreciate being pushed to upgrading to your one service for something that is as basic as this…its the theme, and the animations, this is nothing custom I need, I just need your basic theme to work… I have no idea why you would make an online theme be dependent of peoples hardware/software on their computers or devices. You have no control over that, some people will have older ipads, iphones, some people older computers, some people will not want to upgrade to windows 11 due to older hardware and its suck on recourses…

I get it, we all want better and faster features, I’m all for it, but they still need to cater for past generations of devices and OS to a point right? I’m not saying everything, for example, If I’m working on a css animation and test it, and it gets flagged for not working in windows internet browser, I couldn’t care less haha, but a couple of years back, yes, things need to work, I know everything is advancing fast, but some peeps just cant upgrade every year.

Basically you are saying if I want to see my sites fully functioning, I need to upgrade my ipad or PC, that doesn’t make sense.

This is obviously some kind of animation update you guys put into the last update, and it really does need to revert.

I had various clients this week saying buttons are not working, one on windows 10, one on an older iphone, and one on an ipad.

Surely anything on a website, should work with online libraries, CSS or JS, not use peoples devices.

Hoping this get fixed.

Hey @oriol,

I tested your 40fi and Earthling sites on Windows 10 using a very old Chrome browser and everything works. This means the issue is isolated in certain Windows 10 machines.

By the way, you didn’t mention if you’re using the latest Google Chrome version even in Windows 10. Though you can’t update the OS, it’s highly recommended that you update the browsers. What Chrome version are you using and also please tell us if Javascript is enabled in the browser as previously mentioned.

Thank you.

Pro 6.7.9 has a revert of the prefers-reduced-motion feature. Let us know if you have any issues in the update. Have a great day.
