    Hello,

I installed the Yoast SEO plugin last week and it seemed pretty clear until I clicked on the “You can find your XML Sitemap here” and I got the “Oops” page. The Yoast XML Sitemap page also says, “You do not need to generate the XML site map,” so it would seem that the site map should be there automatically.

So I went to the Yoast forums and the “answers” seemed to point to the template used or if a google site map was already installed. I hadn’t done anything with a site map prior to this Yoast plugin. I was hoping it was going to be as easy as they said…

So is there something else I would need to do to make this plugin site map work?

Thank you for your assistance. I’m not very technically oriented, by the way, so I hope I’ve made myself understood and the answer hasn’t already been given somewhere else in the forum.

    My site: http://www.CalabriaTheOtherItaly.com
Wordpress version: I can’t find it. All I can see is that 4.4.2 is available, so it must be whatever version is before that.
    X-Child Theme Integrity Light

    Thanks,
    Karen

    Hi Karen,

Thank you for the credentials. Please try checking this article:https://themeskills.com/fix-yoasts-xml-sitemap-404-error/

Regarding the Addons issue, I can see that you are using a very old version of X theme. Please note that Addons section starts on X V2.5.0. Current available version of X is Version 4.4.0. Please check our changelog here:https://theme.co/changelog/.

It is recommended to use the latest version. Since, you have a very old version, please try to backup your site or setup a staging site first where you can do the update before doing it on the live site.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you! I read the article you referenced and this fix worked: “Reset the permalinks. Got to Admin (WordPress) -> Settings -> Permalinks, and just press Save Changes without modifying anything.”

I have to figure out a backup system as my site is too big for the free Dropbox account and as soon as I do that I’ll update.

    Thanks.

    Hello again,

I now updated to the 4.4.2 and I don’t see “Addons” on the Dashboard. I thought that it would just appear. I went to the changelog page and saw the information page about Cornerstones and Addons, but I didn’t understand it. Do I need to download Cornerstones now?

    Thank you,
    Karen

    Hi Karen,

Your version of X theme and Cornerstone is very old, i.e., 2.4.0. Addons page was added in X theme version 2.5.0. You’ll need to manually update X theme this time. You can refer to Manual Updates section in our Updating Your Theme and Plugins knowledge base article.

    Thank you!

Hello again and thank you for your support. I did the manual updates of X and Cornerstone as outlined in the “Updating your Theme and Plugins,” and the Addons appeared. I honestly don’t like the flush to the left, but I suppose that’s the new look. And I also seem to have lost the columns on the pages where I had them. In any case I had a couple of important issues pop up that I can’t seem to find an answer for on the support forum.

    1) The drop down menus for the sub-pages have disappeared and so there doesn’t seem to be any way of navigating to those pages. I see a little arrow, but it just clicks to the page itself.

    2) On the blog posts, there’s a white line that runs across the page a little ways from the top – right through the featured image and text on the side of the page.

This is why I avoided the updates in the first place. I’m not technically inclined and it just seems to open up a can of worms.

    Thank you for your assistance,
    Karen

    Addendum to my above message:
Well, I signed out and then back in and then looked at my website with a scroll-down navigation at the top of every page – very unattractive and cumbersome. Not to mention a whole host of things I thought I had formatted that have now changed completely for the worse. Can you please direct me to some sort of Help page. I really hate it. Do I edit it with Visual Composer or Cornerstone? Do I pick just one and then have to stick with that on every page and blog post? Does the “Customize” on the top of the page customize the overall page for both Visual Composer and Cornerstone?
    Thank you,
    Karen

Addendum 2 – sorry to keep writing, but I just clicked on the “Visual Composer” off my homepage and all I get is the blocks as if they’re trying to load but nothing happens.
    Thank you for any help.

Addendum 3 – sorry I’m taking up so much space on the page, but I’ve been pulling my hair out. Anyway, I realized that the X-theme wasn’t activated on the Dashboard, so I activated it and things looked better. Then activating that seemed to deactivate the Child Theme. If I activate one, it seems to deactivate the other. I know I’m probably just doing a few really stupid things, I just don’t know what they are.
    Thank you for your consideration,
    Karen

    Hello Karen,

Thanks for updating the thread! Can you confirm that you are fully updated? (Theme and Plugins)

    Our latest versions are:
    X Theme: 4.4.1
    Cornerstone: 1.2.2
    Visual Composer: 4.11.1

You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.

If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

After doing the updates, since you have installed W3 Total Cache, always remember to clear all caches when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Hi,
All of the versions you mentioned are up to date, although On the Dashboard “At a Glance” it says “WordPress 4.4.2 running X theme”, but then on the Addons page it says 4.4.1, which I don’t understand. I also don’t understand that the Child Theme and X-theme don’t seem to be able to be activated at the same time. Is there no Child Theme anymore?
Cornerstone is 1.2.2 and Visual Composer is 4.11.1, Cache emptied.

The Header navigation bar did not come back with these additional updates. There’s an odd-looking site map at the top of each page. How can I get the top navigation bar back and get rid of the site map?

When I clicked on “Visual Editor,” the white page came up with the cubes trying to load – spinning with nothing happening. The site also seems to run much slower than before. If I click on “Edit Post or Page,” the usual Edit page come up.

Cornerstone – am I to understand that if I start a post in Cornerstone, I need to continue in Cornerstone? Can one post be in Cornerstone and the other in Visual? Is there somewhere where I can read about the differences between Cornerstone and Visual, when to use one or the other? I watched a 5-min. video on Cornerstone that didn’t tell me anything.

My Facebook “Likes” screen is not present anymore. Can I assumed that disappeared and now I use an extension for that?

Thank you very much for your response.

    Karen

    Hi Karen,

I can see that you are now using the latest X and Cornerstone version. Although, your version of child theme is still the old one. X CSS path structure was changed back in version 4.3.3. You can fix this by using the updated child theme format that isn’t stack specific. Or you can update the path in style.css of your child theme. For more information on this process, take a look at the 4.3.3 release notes: http://theme.co/changelog/#theme-4-3-3. Once you have updated your child theme, you can now activate this. The child theme will inherit all functions and style of the main X theme.

To fix the navigation menu, please go to Appearacnce > Menus >Menu Settings > Select Primary Menu and then Save.

Cornerstone and Visual Composer are two different wordpress page builders. Cornerstone will work for new pages, but isn’t compatible with pre-existing data from other page builders. We’re looking into ways to assist with content migration, but realistically there isn’t a way to perfectly match designs created in other builders, as we can’t make their elements available in Cornerstone. If a page is created using Cornerstone, it should be edited using Cornerstone only and same with Visual Composer. You can’t switch between those two page builders.

Yes, you can use a third party plugin for facebook likes.

    Hope this helps.
