    Hi team

    Once again thanks for the feedback.

    I have opened a new thread, similar to Kummeling’s question addressed here: https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/yoast-seo-not-seeing-h2s-and-images-from-cornerstone/

    Yoast SEO does not detect images and h2’s on my site either, and though I have followed the advice of above’s thread, it doesn’t work. My concern is that Cornerstone wouldn’t be efficient for SEO reasons (and that would be a pity :-))

    These are the ‘errors’ I get from Yoast on my homepage:

    1. There are 47 words contained in the body copy. This is far too low and should be increased.
    2. The keyword doesn’t appear in the first paragraph of the copy, make sure the topic is clear immediately.
    3. No images appear in this page, consider adding some as appropriate.
    4. The page title contains 29 characters, which is less than the recommended minimum of 40 characters. Use the space to add keyword variations or create compelling call-to-action copy.
    5. The keyword / phrase does not appear in the URL for this page. If you decide to rename the URL be sure to check the old URL 301 redirects to the new one!
    6. No outbound links appear in this page, consider adding some as appropriate.
    7. No subheading tags (like an H2) appear in the copy.

    These are my concerns:
    1. ThemeCo has developed very visual themes so comment 1) does not make sense to me. Do you agree?
    2. The page is full of images; what can I do so that Yoast actually sees this?
    3. There are H2’s. What can I do so that Yoast actually sees this?

    I’ve added a class (entry-title) to Financial Planners Perth but nothing changes.

    Thanks for an update on this.

    I will send you login details in a separate private reply.

    Thanks again.

    Hey there,

    Yoast SEO is compatible with Cornerstone. Please see this quick demonstration https://cloudup.com/cxwRsaxsvC8. In the screencast, you will see that you need to work on your content to eliminate the messages in red and yellow. Cornerstone does not automatically do SEO. The key there is to be familiar with Yoast SEO, Cornerstone and Search Engine Optimization in general. You can watch Cornerstone tutorials in our Knowledge Base. For SEO, Marketing and other tips, please see https://community.theme.co/xip/

    For your questions:

    1. Can you rephrase or give more clarification?
    2 and 3. Please give us the URL of the page so we could check your setup.

    Thanks.

    Hi Staff, the link to the Cloudup demonstration doesn’t work – it just shows a static image when you click on the play button (I’m using Google Chrome – is there a better browser where it will play that you know of?).

    I’m having the same issue as the above poster – none of my pages that were built in cornerstone are showing up in google searches, including my home page because it can’t read the header content or see the images.’

    When I go to fill in the YOAST SEO settings on my home page, which you can only access through wp-admin for the Home page, it tells me it’s not reading any of the titles on the page (I tested different keywords which are in the titles and not in the content and i got a zero on all sections (as in, YOAST couldn’t read any of the title content).(ie the keywords that I type in which I know are in the titles on the home page, say there are zero of them in the headers, title, etc.)

    And it can’t see any images on the page

    Here are the current Yoast results where you can see that the images aren’t being seen (although there are several of them on the home page):

    The keyword / phrase healing colors does not appear in the page title.
    A meta description has been specified, but it does not contain the target keyword / phrase.
    No images appear in this page, consider adding some as appropriate.
    The copy scores 37.9 in the Flesch Reading Ease test, which is considered difficult to read. Try to make shorter sentences, using less difficult words to improve readability.
    The keyword / phrase does not appear in the URL for this page. If you decide to rename the URL be sure to check the old URL 301 redirects to the new one!

    Is there some kind of workaround that you’ve come up with for making the Cornerstone header content readable by Google? Right now, it can’t read any of them.

    The meta data that Google is currently finding for my home page (and showing up in google searches) is the meta data from my old website before I switched to X Theme a few months ago – I don’t even know why that meta data still exists, but I guess since Google can’t read any of the content on my new Cornerstone home page, it’s still hanging on to the very old meta data?

    (I’ve just changed the banner title of my Home page as a temporary workaround, as well as added a new meta description in Yoast since google wasn’t reading any of the header content on my page and was using the old meta data from several months ago).

    Thanks for any help you can provide so that we can make our Cornerstone page content, images and headers viewable for Google and SEO!

    My site is leannevenier.com. Thank you for your help!! 🙂

    Hi there,

    You may download the video here https://cldup.com/9xtd1QIKv0.mp4

    Sorry was not loading on my end too.

    About the seo and images, do you use caching?

    Another support here and I tried similar procedure and works. And I noticed that your files are still pointing to another url, example : http://i1.wp.com/leannevenier.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Teal-mug.jpg?w=846

    Maybe that could be the case? If you can provide your login too in a separate thread, then I can conduct a test. Though, I can’t really promise some solution as this works fine on our end.

    Thanks!

    Hi There

    I have watched the video and it all makes sense. Thanks for the link.

    Unfortunately this still does not work for my homepage. (login details; see above in private reply)

    1. There are 47 words contained in the body copy. This is far too low and should be increased.
    –> Why does this matter? This is the homepage and it’s meant to be attractive with pictures/recent posts etc. We don’t want to frighten people with encyclopedia kind of texts. Keep it simple is what I’m told to do. I don’t understand why this matters.

    2. Keyword not there.
    –> Keyword is Financial Planning Perth
    It IS the first paragraphs and it IS an H2

    3. No images appear in this page, consider adding some as appropriate.
    –> It’s full of images.

    4. No subheading tags (like an H2) appear in the copy.
    –>It’s full of H2’s

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Hello There,

    Please check this link on how Yoast SEO manage to get the structure of your content.
    https://yoast.com/blog-headings-structure/

    We would like to suggest that you use a child theme. This allows you to make code changes that won’t be overwritten when an X update is released. After your child theme is setup, please review how we recommend making template changes in Customization Best Practices.

    Once you have a child theme, we can easily create custom functions that will help resolve issues such as this. Especially is you are using the blank page templates and turn off the titles, Yoast SEO will have a difficulty in locating your heading tag because most of the time, Yoast SEO will look for the meta data and the entry-title class.

    You can try to add this custom function in your child theme’s functions.php file that will help Yoast SEO plugin.

    //add hatom data
    if ( ! function_exists( ' add_google_rich_snippets' ) ) :
    function add_google_rich_snippets( $content ) {
     $t = get_the_modified_time('F jS, Y');
     $author = get_the_author();
     $title = get_the_title();

     if ( is_singular() ) {
       $content .= '<div class="hatom-extra" style="display:none;visibility:hidden;"><span class="entry-title">'.$title.'</span> was last modified: <span class="updated"> '.$t.'</span> by <span class="author vcard"><span class="fn">'.$author.'</span></span></div>';
     }

     return $content;
    }
    add_filter('the_content', 'add_google_rich_snippets');
    endif;

    Please let us know how it goes.
