    Hi

apologies, this is a non-related X question but may still be relevant for X members using Yoast SEO. I’m about to delete a WordPress website (no X Theme) and replace it by a new WordPress install using the X theme. I’ve backed up the WP files and also exported all content. About that, I’ve used Yoast SEO to optimise all pages/posts and was wondering if I will lose these data when I import the xml file again? Have been googling to find an answer but all I can find is how to export Yoast settings, not Yoast data. Thanks for your contributions. Much appreciated.

    Els

PS: If you can’t answer that question because it’s off topic I totally understand.

    Hi Els,

Yoast data is generated depending on your yoast settings per website. As long as yoast settings is correct it will generate new data for your site. This link might help:https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-import-export/. No need to export yoast data.

    Hi Lely,

I’m not sure if I understand or if I have explained well.

When I’m using the word “data” I mean Yoast keywords/metadescription/title etc.
My site has about 30 pages, all with Yoast data. So my question is, do I lose all that when I export all content via Tools, delete the website, install a new WP and X theme, and import the content xml file again?

I had another look at the Yoast settings and I couldn’t find any settings that actually mentions something in the lines of: ‘export data’, or ‘generate xml’ file or ‘store data’.

Again apologies for this off topic question. Much appreciate your reply.

PS: FYI, the current website has been hacked (url injections) and I’ve been asked to create a new one for which I will use the X theme.

    Hello There,

Thank you for the clarifications! If you rely on the xml files alone, you might lose other data. I would recommend that you use a 3rd party plugin to clone your site or migrate the contents of your site to the new and fresh WP install. Perhaps any of these plugins could help you: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/8-plugins-for-safely-moving-wordpress/

    Hope this helps.
