Ok – so i’ve seen loads and loads of posts about a black background instead of the video showing up. I’m having this very issue and it’s annoyingly intermittent.

I’ve disabled all plugins, tried various self-hosted, dropbox public folder hosted, externally hosted and Vimeo mp4 links and nothing is working.

My Site is http://oXyFireLive.com. Behind the slider Rev text above the matshead, there should be video

This is the video i’m trying to make play on a loop – https://player.vimeo.com/external/192667230.hd.mp4?s=224985a6ea9703f57e4b36bec9707d899db12780&profile_id=174

HELP ME!!! this is driving me crazy.

    WP 4.7.3
    Xtheme 4.6.4

    Hi there,

You should use self hosted video to display background video. In case you want to use vimeo videos, you should have vimeo pro account.

    Hope it helps.

I do have a Vimeo Pro Account and I’ve tried self hosting. Neither of them work. It was working but just stopped a few weeks ago as explained in my original post… I have set all backgrounds to Transparent in Slider Revolution and followed all the instructions to the letter, but still nothing. I’ve even set up a tester page with a new slider (totally blank and with a single slide) and nothing…

I would prefer to use Vimeo as it would take away the weight from my server.

Your feedback isn’t really helpful I’m afraid. Can you support me further?

    Hello There,

Thanks for updating in! I have tried your vimeo video in my testing server and it just showed up. You can check it up here: http://prntscr.com/elpoks

The self hosted video should have work but then it seems the video file is quite big. How many MB is the video file? You can convert the video into smaller video to test out. You can use HandBrake to convert the video. Please download it here: https://handbrake.fr/

Please let us know how it goes.

Ok – this isn’t really helping me sort out my issue out.

I know the Vimeo videos works as it has been working fine perviously. I don’t want to self-host the video because it will overload the server.

Maybe I’m not making myself clear – I’m trying to achieve the look you have on your demo site ‘Integrity 01’ http://demo.theme.co/integrity-1/ . But all I get is a Black Background instead of the video…

The X Test page you created just isn’t working on my side. I’ve tested on 3 machines in Chrome, FireFox, IE and Safari. The video just isn’t playing. This is very very confusing.

I’ve re-encoded the video to test self-hosted option (8mb file now) and still nothing, just ablack screen. There is something wrong for sure. Here’s the self hosted file which plays a’ok within the media section of WP (http://oxyfirelive.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/oXyFireLIVE-FP-Video_1.mp4)

I’ve added a slider below masthead on the X-test poge and the self-hosted video within Optional Background Video so you can see that it’s not working.

I’ve just run a test setting up the exact same thing on oXyFireFilm.com here http://oxyfirefilms.com/test-x-page/ and it’s working perfectly. All the same settings.

The only difference is the Slider Rev version

oXyFireFilms is 5.3.1.5 and oXyFireLive is 5.4.1
both sites are running WP 4.7.3

I’m wondering if it’s the latest update to SliderRev thats causing the issue? Shall I update SLiderRev on oXyFireFilms.com to see if that then causes the same issue?

Ok – I updated the SliderRev plugin on oXyFireFilms.com and the Optional BG video is still working as expected.

This still hasn’t sorted out my issue on oXyFireLive.com.

Ok – so i thought i’d start over and test Plugin conflicts again.

I HAVE FINALLY FOUND THE ANSWER.

‘The Grid’ plugin seems to be conflicting with the Optional Background Video setting. This is a relief but also a little annoying as it’s a plugin that I installed via the X-Addons section.

    Is this a known bug?
