I have consistently used one of Godaddy’s Ultimate hosting packages as a production environment for all of our X-theme designs.
Just recently this last week we installed a new site as usual and were able to save our work throughout, but once we specifically selected text in the text module window and either tried to change the color or make it bold, the site would bug out and we were not able to ‘save’ from that point forward.
I literally had no option other than to reinstall from scratch and try an earlier version of X and cornerstone – to no avail. We had the same issue with an older version.
HOWEVER, the version that would no longer work on GoDaddy WILL work on one of my servers which has slightly older versions of PHP & MySQL etc.
Your support is way better than GoDaddy’s so I figured this issue was notable enough to bring to your attention and perhaps get your thoughts on what could be causing it?
All I could think of is that the new version of ‘something’ they use is causing a major issue.
August 2, 2016 at 2:10 pm #1114259Hello Boans,
Thanks for writing in!
Can you please write a email to Godaddy asking about the version of PHP and MySql they are running? In the meantime would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password
– FTP credentialsDon’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.
Thanks.

Thanks for the credentials but it does not work. Yes, I point my host file to the IP provided. Please try to contact the GoDaddy support ask how you can update your PHP and MySQL version to 5.6 as that is the WordPress requirements.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers!
August 3, 2016 at 9:34 am #1115448Oh, I think it did not work because your form changed the www setting in the host file to ‘http://www”. That second entry should just have www in front of it.
August 3, 2016 at 11:09 am #1115597Hi there,
Thanks for writing back. As mentioned above; PHP 5.4 versions have reached official End Of Life and as such may expose your site to security vulnerabilities. To run WordPress and most of the plugins out there smoothly; you need to use at least PHP 5.6. Kindly ask your hosting provider to update PHP and MySQL. Your problem will be solved I believe.
Cheers!
August 3, 2016 at 3:18 pm #1116012Updated PHP to the latest version and tested both the older version of x-theme and cornerstone as well as the new version – same bug in both installs – unable to save after text formatting in text module.
If you’d like to check it out remember you can log in using the info I sent, just remove the http:// from the second host file entry.
This might be worth a second look for you because as you know they are a major host and we encountered the same bug on several fresh installs of your product. (in an environment where we have successfully installed at least 15 instances of X in the last year).
August 3, 2016 at 6:14 pm #1116217Hi There,
Please double check your admin password above. It’s not working when I tried to login.
August 4, 2016 at 1:05 pm #1117623I double checked the info and it is all correct. Your machine is likely caching and trying to connect to the ‘live’ site as the password for the live site is different.
Remember when you paste the two lines into your host file that the second line should not have the ‘http://’ in front of the www (it is added in by your form after submission)
MOST IMPORTANTLY: You have to save your host file then close all instances of the browser and clear your cache – it is still likely trying to view the live site.
August 4, 2016 at 6:23 pm #1117993Hi there,
It’s correctly added on my end without www, and login isn’t working on my end either. I also confirmed it by pinging http://www.judgelauriewhite.com and the resulting IP is the same as hosts file. Hence, it’s correctly added.
Could it be cache on your server? Godaddy uses caching too much.
Thanks!

X theme is just a theme, and the cornerstone is just a plugin. They are just set of scripts, it has nothing to do how nameservers or DNS setup. Domain resolves in network level and not on the code level.
If X theme should affect DNS, Nameservers, and proxy, then it should be the same case with other hosting providers.
Though, I agree that sometimes, X theme, and cornerstone won’t working properly with Godaddy. It’s been like that since from the very start. It’s not due to X theme or cornerstone, but because of Godaddy’s restrictions. Example, it has built-in cache and external transient storage. If you’ll install a transient cleaner, then it will not let you do it. WordPress by default has transient features, limiting it without any other alternatives of cleaning it means your theme and plugins should just wait until it fixes itself. Example, if your preview has cache issue (saving, editing, etc) , you’ll need to clear the transients, it’s important as the way you clear your site’s cache.
And I think, switching to proxy links issue is cache too. Since the cache is generated on the settings they initially setup. That includes the links and permalinks. If those links and permalinks don’t match, then it will not work.
On our hosting, both live domain and preview domain works even if the URL keeps on changing. It’s how our hosting is setup and it’s nothing to do with the theme or cornerstone. They only utilize the resources provided by WordPress, and WordPress use the resources provided by the system. And we configure that system to make it work, another hosting can do the same, especially on cloud hosting. It’s just a matter of managing the cache between endpoints.
Still, I like to see what’s the issue. Would you mind providing the proxy links and its login credentials?
Thanks!
