Hi guys. I’ve got several clients doing the Google Test and getting reports with complains about the bad-scoring images. Even though ALL images were “optimized For Web’ using Photoshop, medium quality and compressed using services like TinyPNG. We have discussed this in the past in the FB Group as the other popular Speed-Test site, GTMEtrix also flags images. But at least that one is explaining t’s because of ‘image dimensions not set. (I understand why, t’s desktop/tablet/mobile and responsive. Google doesn’t care to explain though. So… if there a way or code I could add to have the image dimensions generated as code as well? Or some other description that will “tell” tests like this an X site is not “problematic” ? What can I do to eliminate this warning? https://testmysite.thinkwithgoogle.com/

December 14, 2016 at 5:15 am #1292538Hey guys,
I’ve tested a new site which currently contains no image in the page and PageSpeed Insights still warned me to optimize images.
There’s currently no way to add image dimensions to the Image element so the only solution would be to add your image in the Text element.
Other parts of X like the featured image has an image dimension.
PageSpeed Insights should not be taken at face value though. Here’s a good article from WP Rocket https://blog.wp-rocket.me/the-truth-about-google-pagespeed-insights/
I’ll forward this to our development team also.
Thanks.

December 14, 2016 at 6:35 am #1292609Hey guys,
Just a quick update. The site I talked about in my previous reply actually has an image. It’s the background image that comes from our demo. Please upload your own background or to override it, upload your own image, save and then remove the background image and save again. PageSpeed result optimize image suggestion is clear now.
Here’s the image optimization guide from Google https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/OptimizeImages
Thanks.
