Hello,
I’m using the Integrity stack, with a child theme. I have X 1.8.4, WP 3.9, woocommerce, 2.1.7, Being new to WP, I may be missing something about how the woocommerce pages are supposed to work, but when I go to the Settings page, I assume I should be able to choose the Shop, Cart, and Checkout pages from the applicable dropdowns, correct? And I should also see them on the Appearance/Menus page?
They don’t appear in either place. And yet, if I use the shop permalink I can see the shop page. http://www.franmckain.com/?post_type=product
I’ve tried deactivating, deleting, and reinstalling woocommerce a couple of times, making sure the woocommerce directory is completely gone before reinstalling. Still doesn’t solve it. I’ve looked all over the woocommerce support site and none of the instructions they offer have helped. I’m not sure if my expectation is wrong, or if I should be asking for help from you or woocommerce or wordpress. Thanks for any pointers.
Fran
April 27, 2014 at 11:45 pm #37874Hi Fran!
Thank you for using the theme!
Did you import the woocoommerce pages? Are they present on the Pages panel? If not, please go to the woocommerce settings panel then click the “Install Woocommerce Pages” on top. This will give you all the available woocommerce pages. If you don’t want to import all shop page, go to the Pages panel then create the shop page. Selec this page as the Shop Base Page on Woocommerce > Settings > Pages.
Please refer to this link for more info: http://demo.woothemes.com/woostore/files/2011/09/WooCommerceUserGuide.pdf
Cheers!
April 28, 2014 at 6:41 pm #38272I installed the woocommerce pages when I installed woocommerce. I’ve done that multiple times. There is no Pages panel. I think that was eliminated in the current release of woocommerce, wasn’t it? I don’t see an option to “Install woocommerce pages” at the top of the woocommerce settings panel. Somewhere in the several days I’ve been trying to figure this out, I think I saw that option on a different screen, but I can’t remember where now.
I don’t know how to create a shop page that looks like the one for Integrity. I’d really like to install the pages and just use them, rather than trying to recreate them. If at all possible.
April 29, 2014 at 10:30 am #38531Hi Fran,
Under WooCommerce > Settings > Products, do you have a page selected for the shop page? This is the only page you’ll need now since WooCommerce switched to using “endpoints” Basically it will dynamically generate everything else around the shop page.
You can also create your own custom pages by adding shortcodes: http://docs.woothemes.com/document/pages-not-displaying/
April 29, 2014 at 11:57 am #38564I don’t have a page selected for the shop page because I don’t know what page to select there. That’s exactly the issue I’m asking about. I thought the shop (and other) page would be generated when I chose to install woocommerce pages, but it apparently wasn’t because it doesn’t appear in the dropdown there.
The link you provided, which I’ve read several times recently, seems to suggest that I should create a custom shop page if it’s missing. I could do that, but I want it to look like the Integrity shop page and I don’t know how to make it look like that. I’ve tried adding a few of the woocommerce short-codes onto a custom shop page and the result is not at all like the Integrity shop page. Probably because I have more to learn about using their shortcodes. If my only recourse is to build a custom page, is there any way to find out how the Integrity shop page was built? Is it included in the demo stuff? I don’t want to mess up the design of the rest of my site by importing all the demo stuff, but I do want the shop page.
April 29, 2014 at 4:41 pm #38662I have figured out the problem. This site provided the information I needed: http://kb.oboxthemes.com/articles/woocommerce-shortcode-button-missing-after-3-9-wordpress-update/.
The problem was that I had somehow deleted the original woocommerce pages, but they were still in the trash. Because of that, even uninstalling and reinstalling woocommerce didn’t regenerate the pages. I had to delete every page that had the same name as any of the woocommerce pages and then empty the trash. Then uninstall and reinstall woocommerce and have it reinstall the pages. That finally worked and now I see the pages on the woocommerce settings/products pages as expected.
Now I think I can figure out how to tweak them so they look more like the Integrity pages. I can see that some of it is controlled on the settings/products page, some by configuring sidebars, some in the customizer, and maybe some by editing the page itself.
April 30, 2014 at 3:24 pm #39010Hi Fran,
Good to hear you got it working! Yes, unfortunately WooCommerce simply discontinued the button instead of fixing it. It was discussed on GitHub here: https://github.com/woothemes/woocommerce/issues/5130
May 22, 2015 at 6:34 am #279414So much for it taking minutes to get up and running. I’ve just spent all morning trying to achieve the same. Please update your documentation online on how to install WooCommerce!
May 22, 2015 at 4:32 pm #279727Hi there,
All we could cover from woocommerce is basic installation. And you should check woocommerce guide/documentation from their site for more details. Or perhaps contact them 🙂
Thanks!
