My main site is a membership site requiring extensive reporting so I am using Amember to manage membership. But I also want to sell physical products not requiring that users be members. I think the solution would be to put Woocommerce in a subdirectory or sub-domain. In order to do that, I think I need to install a whole new instance of WordPress. Can I connect the X-theme in that sub-directory or sub-domain or do I need to purchase another license, and would this solution work for selling without requiring logging in? And can I access the child theme or copy the style.css of my main theme to keep the same look? If you can’t answer this, can you please direct me to a resource that might be able to help me? Thanks.

Thanks for writing in!
You can use your current licence and API key if you install WordPress in a sub-directory, i.e.
yourwebsite.com/shop
. But if you install it in a sub-domain, i.e.shop.yourwebsite.com
, it will require a separate licence.WooCommerce allow you to enable guest checkout, you can find more information on their documentation: http://docs.woothemes.com/document/configuring-woocommerce-settings/#section-4
You can keep the layout same by using same Customizer settings. You can also copy the same child theme in your Shop WordPress installation.
Thanks!
September 23, 2015 at 10:33 am #400043I think I wasn’t clear. Just want to make sure. I would have WordPress with X-theme in main directory and then WordPress with X-theme and Woocommerce in sub-directory, i.e., 2 instances of it. Am I still okay with only one license? The license is actually not my main concern. My concern is keeping same look and that sounds like that is not a problem.
If I need a second license, is a sub-directory or sub-domain better? Thanks for your input.
September 23, 2015 at 11:00 am #400071Hi there,
Thanks for updating. Yes we got you right and the previous answer is the best answer for you regarding the licensing. And about keeping same look, you need to use same stack on both installation (as you need two different WordPress on two directory). If you decide to setup the separate shop on yourwebsite.com/shop then you don’t need separate license but if you want to use subdomain like shop.yourwebsite.com then you have to purchase another license.
Hope this makes sense.
Cheers!
