I started building my site, but now I would like to take a look at some of the possibilities in the demo pages. But I’m worried about importing them, because I don’t want to overwrite the pages I have already created. Is there a danger of doing that? Or will importing the demo pages simply add to the pages I already have created?

Thanks for writing in! Demo content will not overwrite your existing pages but it will add to pages or posts that are already created. Always make a backup before importing content or updating the theme.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean. When you say it will “add to pages or posts that are already created.” Do you mean it will add them as new pages and posts? Or will it modify the pages that are already created by adding on to them?

Specifically, I have already created a “Home” page. If I import the demo content into this site, what will happen to my already created Home page? Will it be modified or appended in some way? Or will the demo content be added as a new page, separate from the existing one?

Hey there,

It will not overwrite your “Home” page, it will create a new pages/posts in addition to what you already have. These posts are separate from what you have now.

Do keep in mind that setting up a demo using our demo content importer means the Customizer settings from that demo will be downloaded too, so if you like your current settings make sure to first make a backup before trying out some of the demo content.
