My x theme won’t allow me to edit widgets in any widget area other than the ‘Main Sidebar’ widget area once I have added the widget to the said widget area by clicking on the widget and selecting which area i want it to go into from the dropdown menu. Please can you help me.

    Hey Romaine,

I checked your setup and the reason you can’t use the rest of the widgets is because they are disabled. Please go to Appearance > Customize > Header and Appearance > Customize > Footer to enable them (see attachments). You might also be interested with X Unlimited Sidebar feature. See https://community.theme.co/kb/unlimited-sidebars/

    Thanks.

Thank you for this. But now i have activated the header widgets (those are the ones i needed enabled – not the footer ones like you said in your message), i have a dropdown menu thing in the header of the website which reveals the widgets. I dont like this. how do i make it go?

    Hi there,

Are you referring to plus circle icon on top right of page? If you remove it you won’t be able to access to header widgets anymore.

Please clarify what you’re trying to achieve.

    Thanks.

Yes i am referring to the plus circle on the top right of the page. I never had this before. and i would like to get rid of it. I dont wish to show any widgets in the header and so therefore dont need it.
