Hi there! I’m working on a couple of sites both using X and can’t say that I could be any happier!

I am having a small issue though. I’m using visual composer to build out my page structures. I just updated my theme and updated wordpress to 3.9. Now the Visual Editor in Edit Text in Visual Composer is blank. The code is showing up on the Text tab but the Visual tab is blank…

Any help with this would be much appreciated as I’d like to take advantage of the new features offered by the 3.9 wordpress release (automatic re-sizing of images, drag and drop functionality for media, etc.). My URL is http://www.cleyents.com.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Bobby,

Same thing is happening to me since upgrade to WordPress 3.9 / X version 1.8.3.

Tested on Chrome Version 34.0.1847.116 m and IE 11

This make editing text quite difficult.

Hi Steve – yes i’ve done some more digging and there was a bunch of posts out there regarding the visual editor not working. here were the steps i found from another post…

1.) Update to the latest version of X theme, 1.8.3.
2.) Go to the Plugins panel then deactivate all plugins. Delete the WPBakery Visual Composer Plugin.
3.) You will be prompted to install the plugin again. Click “Begin Installing Plugin”.
4.) Test the visual composer before activating the plugins again.

I took these steps and then realized that for some reason my theme and all the corresponding updates to plugins actually didn’t happen. the only thing I can figure is that the version of X on Themeforest is still the older version…?

where do I download the 1.8.3 version of X?

Alright, here is a fix that works. Go to Theme Forest, then head over to your downloads and re-download X-Theme. It will be the latest version.

    http://themeforest.net/downloads

Next, use an FTP to update the theme, and Visual Composer files. You can find the directions to do so in the Knowledge Base area under “update theme and plugin”

Also don’t forget to export your customizer settings, and create a child theme.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for writing in and we’re sorry to hear that you’re having some problems with Visual Composer. As you all are no stranger to, the plugin has been having quite some issues since the WordPress v3.9 update, and we have an in-depth thread posted about this at the top of the forum currently that we strongly advise you to go through in detail as even though it is quite long it is done so to inform you about everything we know regarding this situation and what you can do. That being said, I’d also recommend giving Paul’s fix a try (this is outlined in the thread as well) as it should help you out. Please make sure to check that out and if you have any further issues, make sure to read through the Reporting Issues section and provide us with the requested information so that we can more thoroughly assist you in this matter.

    Thanks.

Thanks guys…pretty sure i’ve got this knocked too…for some reason after downloading X i’ve got version 2.0.8 of x-shortcodes and version 4.1 of Visual composer. It’s still much better but there are a few bugs showing up…

I’ll update again and I’ll bet that’ll do it.

    Thanks for your help!

Steven, we’re so glad to hear that everything is in working order for you now! We know that these updates with Visual Composer lately have caused quite a few problems and we’re grateful to hear that our users are seemingly able to get things ironed out now with their latest releases. As always, we are here for you and look forward to continuing to serve you here in the member area with any questions you might have. If you happen to have any further questions or issues regarding Visual Composer, don’t hesitate to direct them to the thread referenced above as we’re hoping to centralize reporting of these issues. Thanks!

Robert, that is most strange indeed. In downloading the most recent version of X from ThemeForest it will be v1.8.3 and the versions of Visual Composer an x – Shortcodes included within are v4.1.1 and v2.1.0 respectively. If you need more information on updating things and getting everything in order, we strongly recommend you take some time to go through the in-depth thread at the top of the forum as it’s quite extensive about all this. Any further questions you have we welcome you to report them there in an effort to centralize these issues, but it sounds like you’re well on your way to getting things working like many of our other users are reporting. It might also be worth taking note of Steven’s response above and his working setup currently:

    • WordPress (v3.9)
    • X (v1.8.3)
    • X – Shortcodes (v2.1.0)
    • Visual Composer (v4.1.1.1)

As always, we look forward to continuing to serve you here in the member area. Thanks!
