    Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! Let’s delete the old plugin from your FTP/cPanel from the directory wp-contents/plugins/js_composer and install the new version. If you need to install the plugin manually, you will find it within your X theme folder (X/framework/plugins/js_composer.zip).

Let us know how it goes.

    Cheers!

I tried deleting it from the plug in list, so first I deactivated it, then the option to delete came up, I click delete and when I check on the list again, the VC is still there??

Sorry maybe I am doing something wrong??

    Hi Drew,

    Thanks for writing in!

It looks like you are using older version of X theme. VC 4.5.3 is available only in new version of X theme. Please first update X and bundled plugins and then you should be able to upload VC as well. You can review our update guide.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks!

    Hi again,

I have version Version: 4.0.4 of the X theme, and with the last update i did, I was told it would update automatically? I can’t find where to update X theme further than 4.0.4 anywhere. šŸ™

I’m getting a bit confused. What older version does your system say I have?? ANd why does my system say it is 4.0.4?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi There,

If you are using 4.0.4 then you are using the latest version of X theme but your Visual Composer is not updated. We have already provided the way on second reply. Here it is again –

Let’s delete the old plugin from your FTP/cPanel from the directory wp-contents/plugins/js_composer and install the new version. If you need to install the plugin manually, you will find it within your X theme folder (X/framework/plugins/js_composer.zip).

Let’s do it from FTP or cPanel File Manager.

    Thanks

    Hi again,

I’m getting really confused sorry, the last person told me my X theme was out of date, now your telling me it’s not – so the last reply was incorrect? If they made a mistake then fair enough, but let me know otherwise I get even more confused looking for what I did wrong. Please read back in comments to verify.

As I mentioned in the reply to deleting, I thought I was doing something wrong in my attempt to delete VC because I was deleting VC on my plug in list on wordpress, and it would just appear again. Please read back.

I think I’m not clear on where the directory is on ” FTP/cPanel from the directory “, maybe I’m deleting from the wrong place. Can you give me better details on where to find VC to delete on FTP?? As in – do you mean on cyberduck or filezilla? Sorry to be a pain asking for baby step instructions, but I would really appreciate it šŸ™‚

And also further detail on how to manually update.

    Thank you

    Hi There,

Your site’s X|theme is updated (I can confirm) but you’re still using the X|Shortcode which already been replaced by Cornerstone. Your Visual composer is not updated, please refer to this screenshot.

To update the Visual Composer navigate to plugins look for the WPBakery Visual Composer, deactivate and then delete. After that download this file:

    http://www.wedrew.org/wp-content/themes/x/framework/plugins/js_composer.zip

That is the latest Visual composer installer that is bundle on the latest X|Theme.

Upload this via WP plugin uploader > Upload Plugin then Browse the js_composer.zip you just downloaded. Then Install and activate.

Next thing is to install the Cornerstone because this is required on the latest X|Theme. To do this navigate to Addons > Extensions and you’ll see Cornerstone there for you to install. After installing Cornerstone please deactivate and delete the X|Shortcode to avoid compatibility issue.

If you need assistance on doing this please provide us admin login in private reply. And yes FTP credentials is the one we used on Filezilla.

    Hope it helps, Cheers!

    Hi there,

Would you try to install it manually for once, To do so please download X Theme folder from Theme Forest, you can locate the “js-composer.zip” file under (“X/framework/plugins/”). Then unzip the plugin file and use a FTP Client software (FileZilla Client) to upload it into your server (“ROOT/wp-content/plugins/”) folder.

Once you have uploaded it into the server, login to your WordPress back-end and head over to the Plugins -> Installed plugins to activate those plugins.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi there,

    Yes, sure.

    Please follow these steps :

#1 Go to your Downloads page in your ThemeForest profile.
#2 Locate the Download button next to X and click it. Upon clicking the Download button, a dropdown should appear.
#3 Select All files & documentation from the dropdown to begin downloading a .zip file containing X within.
Once you have downloaded this .zip file to your computer, uncompress it by double-clicking on it. This will reveal an unzipped version of a folder that contains documentation, demo content, photoshop files, and the X theme itself.
#4 Locate the zipped version of js_composer under X/framework/plugins, unzip the file.
#5 Connect to your server via FTP and navigate to your /wp-content/plugins directory.
#6 Drag and drop the uncompressed version of js_composer into this directory and ensure that all old files are overwritten.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi There,

To make sure, just delete the old directory first and upload the new one. You also should get prompt message that you are going to overwrite existing file while trying to overwrite without deleting.

    Thanks
