Hi – we have several sites using the X theme, and have no problems. We upgraded to WordPress 4.3 today, and now when I make any changes to the home page (the only page built using the Visual Composer, with all the blocks of content you can drag around) it gets wonky. The customer-facing live site is fine, but the Visual Composer only shows the first box. After that, it looks as if there’s no more content on the page – and I can’t get back to it unless I restore to an earlier version of the page from BEFORE we upgraded WordPress. I can’t just go back to an hour ago, for example.
We also upgraded on a sister site (almost identical) and the exact same thing is happening. It ISN’T happening on the sites we haven’t upgraded yet.
I have screenshots to share, if that’s possible. That might help show what I’m talking about.
website: http://www.breakoutcincinnati.com/
Wordpress version: 4.3 (now)
X theme version: 4.0.6
X CHILD theme version: 1.0.0
Shortcode plugin version: 3.0.5Not sure what to do – but essentially it means we can’t edit the one-page site without having to make all the changes we need to make again, after reverting to a week ago – every single time. I would really appreciate some support. Thanks! – Shawn
August 19, 2015 at 9:55 pm #364032Hello There,
Thanks for writing in!
Upon checking your site, it seems that you have successfully updated your X theme to the latest version. And still using X Shortcodes. Please deactivate and delete X Shortcodes 3.0.5 plugin. Please take note that X shortcodes 3.0.5 and its functionality has been consolidated into Cornerstone which you can install by going to X Addons > Extensions.
For more details about Cornerstone, please check it out here: http://theme.co/blog/x-version-4-introducing-cornerstone/
Hope this helps. Kindly let us know.
August 20, 2015 at 1:41 pm #364597Hi – thanks for the quick response. I wanted to wait until the site launch wrapped up before trying this.
I activated Cornerstone and deactivated/deleted the Shortcodes plugin, but that didn’t fix the issue.
Here’s a dropbox link to see the screenshots I took, the ones called “working_” are what the page editor looked like before the update. The one called “not_working” is what it looked like after.

Again, the site still looks correct on the customer-facing side: it’s like something isn’t connecting on the page editor side.
Thoughts?

Thank you for the very detailed information. Upon inspection, there might be files that were corrupted during the update. Please reinstall WordPress, X theme, and other plugins in your site.
You could also try testing for a plugin conflict. There might be plugins that has incompatibility issues with the latest WordPress release. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
Please let us know how it goes.
August 21, 2015 at 1:21 pm #365476Thanks, I’ll give it a shot sometime late over the weekend and follow up.

August 24, 2015 at 10:08 pm #368265Hey guys – no luck so far, re-installed WordPress, deactivated and reactivated all plugins (did this several times in a myriad of ways – no results), moved on to uninstalling and reinstalling the plugins (both from X and third parties, and manually reinstalled the X theme itself. Also disabled the child theme, and switched to WordPress’ 2015 theme and back.
Nothing ever seemed to have an effect on the issue. I also updated the theme today, an email from ThemeForest said there was a more recent one. Manually updated that as well, no nice.
Not sure what to do next, but I’m stuck – if I try to go to the standard page builder any HTML of JS is converted to long strings of letters and numbers, so I can’t edit anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
August 25, 2015 at 2:53 am #368515Hi,
Upon checking, it seems that the codes in your raw html and raw javascripts are the ones breaking the VC layout structure.
I copied the code in my local test site then tried removing the contents in your raw html and raw js in text editor.
When I go back to the backend editor, everything seems to be showing.[vc_row inner_container="true" no_margin="true" border="none" bg_color="#f7f7f7" class="herovideo"][vc_column fade_animation="in" width="2/3" id="about"][visibility type="visible-phone"][gap size="2em"][/visibility][x_video_embed type="16:9" no_container="true"] <iframe src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/KohoItAgySI?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0" width="853" height="480" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> [/x_video_embed][/vc_column][vc_column fade_animation="in" width="1/3" style="padding-left:1em; padding-right:1em;"][text_output] <h2 style="margin: 0px; text-align: left;">What are Breakout Games?</h2> [/text_output][gap size="1.5em"][text_output] Each Breakout Game is a real-life adventure for a small group.
