Good day Theme X team,
I just wanted to let you know that I made an update of your theme to the newest version 3.2.4 and now the Visual Composer is not working well anymore…
I made this screencast to show you the problem: http://screencast.com/t/ylowlPyz
I tried in Google Chrome and Firefox and in both cases I had exactly the same problem, which in summary is that the small text editor of any element doesn’t work (it doesn’t show what I’m writing or had written before, nor the tool bar for that text).
Also in some cases the Visual Composer doesn’t load… it just keeps showing “loading” forever…
Please help, thank you
Carlos
April 24, 2015 at 11:03 am #257642Make sure you’re updating both the theme AND the X-shortcodes plugin at the same time. They BOTH have to be the latest version.
Then, clear your caches.

April 24, 2015 at 11:25 am #257662Having the same issue after updating to WordPress 4.2. You get these errors in the console when attempting to edit components:

April 24, 2015 at 3:19 pm #257817I can confirm what Scott mentioned, there is a Javascript console error when trying to edit a component as you can see in this other short screencast that I made:
http://screencast.com/t/E1lYd8fs3Z
The error makes sense with the problem that is presented since it is related to the avascript HTML WYSIWYG editor control (http://www.tinymce.com/) which is precisely what is not working anymore…
Also I believe that I already had the latest X-Shortcodes plugin that is available (3.0.5) since when I set the bulk option to update, the system tells me that I already have the latest version.
I also cleared the cache as suggested but it didn’t solve the problem… help?!
April 24, 2015 at 3:28 pm #257821UPDATE: Maybe the problem was also with the update to WordPress 4.2, because I see other people having trouble with Visual Composer after they updates their wordpress to 4.2 (which is my case also…)

April 24, 2015 at 3:32 pm #257825NOTE: I also noticed that the latest version of Visual Composer (directly from the maker, WPBakery) is 4.4.4 while I have the 4.3.5 and I’m not able to upgrade it (when I choose the bulk option to upgrade wordpress tells that I already have the latest version… which I believe it is the latest version of this plugin adaptation that X Theme team has made)

April 24, 2015 at 5:42 pm #257879Hi Guys,
What Charlie mentioned is what we would check as the first step, ensure VC, X Theme and X shortcodes are all the latest versions we provide. X uses a modified version of VC so the latest VC from the dev won’t work. After making getting all these updated to the latest, then everything should work after cache is cleared.
Usually, that is it, there are things can go wrong during updates where some files get corrupted. In this case, we would recommend that you delete both VC and X shortcodes plugins (you may need to manually delete the js_composer folder and the x-shortcodes folder from /wp-content/plugins). Once you have don this. Ensure X theme is updated to the latest first, then install the two plugins via X Addons > Extensions.
You can also manually download the bundled files from the theme folder and install them manually via FTP.
The location for bundled plugins is here: /wp-content/themes/x/framework/plugins
Hope this helps – thanks!
April 25, 2015 at 4:17 am #258153Thank you Theme.co team, I’ll give it a try to see if I can solve it and let you know.

XApril 26, 2015 at 2:52 pm #259044Hello again… (see update at the bottom… the problem is and incompatibility with WordPress 4.2 and your version of the Visual Composer plugin)
I’m sorry to say that the previous steps didn’t work… (uninstalling the plugins, even deleting the folders where the plugins were and then re-installing it…)
I even went one step further, since I was just starting to build my website I even uninstalled/deleted the whole wordpress website and installed it from scratch… while being freshly installed I updated the WordPress to 4.2, and then proceeded to install X theme 3.2.4… then installed the x-shortcuts and the visual composer plugins and still I’m getting the same Javascript error…
Here is a new screencast showing you the issue I’m having even from this freshly installed wordpress…
http://screencast.com/t/mttSnIkPZw
Please help!!!
=============
UPDATE: I can certify now that the problem is an incompatibility of WordPress 4.2 and your version of the Visual Composer plugin, since I fresh-installed (again) a wordpress but I didn’t update it to 4.2 and everything worked fine… and just after I updated the WordPress to 4.2 the problem appeared again!
I made a new video showing your exactly that problem, look in here: http://screencast.com/t/mwXaAFvUV
And the main problem is that for some reason my WordPress installation gets updates automatically to 4.2 even I don’t explicitly choose it to get updated!… HELP…

April 26, 2015 at 9:42 pm #259196Hi Cboteros,
Confirmed this bug on my end too. Already forwarded for closer look.
Thanks and stay tuned.
May 4, 2015 at 2:34 pm #265271Hi cboteros,
In response to the automatic update thing, WordPress annoyingly believes that everyone wants to be up to date all the time, even if the theme and plugins they are using will break as a result. Normally, it’s best to be on the latest version of everything… but obviously there are instances where that’s not the case.
To disable automatic updates, open wp-config.php in a text editor (like text wrangler, as an example), and append the file with the following line, right above the part where it tells you to stop editing.
define( 'WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE', false );
If you want to limit this to only plugins, or only themes, you’d add one or both of the following filters:
add_filter( 'auto_update_plugin', '__return_false' );
and/or
add_filter( 'auto_update_theme', '__return_false' );
Use responsibly, and accept the risks of doing so. 🙂

May 25, 2015 at 11:13 am #281307Hi there,
I am experiencing a similar problem. My Visual Composer appears to be working on the back end, but the results aren’t translating into the front-end. I have lost the revolution slider in the first row and the row below no longer has 3 columns.
This is a recent problem since I updated both WPML and X shortcodes plugin. I have tried renaming the X shortcodes plugin, but that had no effect. I don’t want to rename WPML in case I lose all my translations and I don’t think this is the plugin which is causing the problem. Do you have any suggestions? My URL is http://www.astratelli.com.
Thanks!
