The newest version of Visual Composer has some additional features, as well as the ability to add add-ons. I have purchased this for other sites I work on, but I would really like to add this to the X-Themed websites I am working on. With any other plug-in/theme, I would delete it and then upload another, but since X comes with Visual Composer I want to be sure that if I remove the current one and upload the new one I will not be risking losing other information. Can anyone give me peace of mind on this or is it too hard to say weather I can do this? Is there a way to update Visual Composer if you purchase an updated version already available in the X-Theme?

Thank you for writing in!
X bundled VC is custom one, which replacing it by your other copy may remove most of X shortcodes within the VC. Some users are getting problem after replacement, but some are not. Maybe depends on the feature they are using.
You could always do trial and error, replace it with your copy and roll it back when something goes wrong. That action should not delete any of your data/content.
Thanks!
August 16, 2014 at 6:09 am #85893Hi There,
I purchased X last year and just now installed it for a site I’m currently building. It didn’t seem to be working properly, i.e. some of the elements in visual composer weren’t loading, and some that loaded showed up blank. I’ve updated the shortcodes and the newest version of the theme, but I’m pretty green and at this point a little confused as to what is current and what isn’t. I’m working in Integrity Dark Child Theme. Can you help?Current version of WordPress: 3.9

A detailed description of the issue you are experiencing:
Please see my intro above. I’m having issues with visual composer, specifically when adding promo and pricing table elements. When I bring them up, it is basically a text box. I have to use the text tab to see any text I type – I can see my typing when I use the visual tab. I though the problem was with the shortcodes, so I updated those. Now I’m thinking it’s the visual composer?
I’m really hoping it’s not a problem with the user!!

Thanks in advance for your help!
P.S. I love the theme…I’m pretty sure. ~PattiAugust 16, 2014 at 6:35 am #85904The current version of X is 3.2.0 so first thing would be to go ahead and update to that version. The version you have 1.7.2 which is fairly old at this point. Please update and then we can see what else is going on.
You can download latest X from ThemeForest
This update guide is also helpful highlighting steps to accomplish the update -> http://theme.co/x/member/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/
Let us know how it works out after the update.
Cheers
