Hello,
I am almost done with my site and just adding some finishing touches. I am recreating my home page from Integrity 01. Instead of linking an mp4 which is self hosted. I embedded a Vimeo video on a slide layer. I figured this would load faster since the small video I tried self hosting with was very slow loading.
I can’t seem to get the Vimeo Video to go full width. There are always black bars when resizing. Is there away to force the Vimeo video full screen? It does full screen when I use the optional video background with a self hosted mp4. With Vimeo on a slide it’s not. Maybe I have my settings wrong?
Also, does Revslider automatically use background images when Vimeo is the video? It seems like youtube or, vimeo would load on moblie since both services are already responsive.

Thanks in advance,
John
June 4, 2014 at 9:18 pm #52578After spending the day testing various settings I think I finally resolved the black bar issue. The issue I am still having is a Vimeo video layer on ios. When the slider loads there is a quick view of the video thumbnail then it launches into the next slide. I have set the video layer to hide below 650px so it won’t display on an iPhone. I don’t dare go higher than that and, that doesn’t help me with an iPad.I still have the same issue on my iPad. I don’t have android so I haven’t tested anything there yet. Same link as above.
June 5, 2014 at 10:04 am #52891Hi John,
If you need it to always be full screen, I’d recommend using the “Optional Video Background” field, and transparent slides in Revolution Slider. Regarding the mobile issues, this is just one caveats of using a video and mobile devices. iOS devices can’t play the video directly, and will load them in the native player – it also can’t “autoplay”
I would recommend using the “optional video background” setting, and adding a “Mobile Poster Image” This is an image that will be displayed in place of the background video if a mobile device is detected.
If you have Vimeo plus, you can actually get a direct mp4 URL which you can copy into the Optional Video Background setting.

I do have Vimeo Plus for $59.95 per year. I do not have pro which is $199 per year. I don’t see anyway within Vimeo Plus to get that direct mp4 link. Is this a feature available on Pro and, not on Plus?
The direct download link on the video itself is a token- http://vimeo.com/97338323/download?t=1401997164&v=259704788&s=85ff76b94605e130970445d9c6f954bc.
Do you know here I find that direct mp4 link?

I think I have the Slider to a workable state. I don’t mind that it won’t auto play on iOS but, I do like them having the option to play it.
For auto play on a desktop it seems that auto play–> only the first time does not work. Auto play works but, when I check the box for only 1st time the video does not auto play.
This header has 1st time only checked

This header does not

Is that a glitch with the slider? I hate to have to force people to A- Hit play to watch the video the first time or, B turn the video off every time they visit the home page.
Let me know- Thanks in advance- John
June 6, 2014 at 9:45 am #53308Hi John,
#1. I’m so sorry, I was mistaken when I mentioned that earlier. It’s a Vimeo PRO account that is required for direct access. (http://vimeo.com/help/faq/vimeo-membership/vimeo-pro#what-features-are-available-with-pro)
#2. I’ve taken a look here, and this look like a bug in Revolution Slider. I couldn’t get “Only 1st Time” to work on my test site. We’ll need to wait for Theme Punch to address this in a plugin update.
