Hey Jim,
X has a Video Embed element in Visual Composer and Cornerstone (see screencast https://cloudup.com/ca7LWmPOuxU). You can get the embed code in Youtube and paste it in the Video Embed element and set your desired options. See this screencast for a demo
Hope that helps. 🙂
November 11, 2015 at 8:15 pm #661891Hello,
Any help is greatly appreciated since I’ve been trying to move my intro video to the right position for a few days. I really hope we can fix this with just one more email.
Referring to my last question I noticed I dont seem to have cornerstone.
Please Answer the Following Numbered Questions
1) Do I have to verify my X theme first to get the upgrade?
2) I know there are adjustments I can make with the new visual composer to resize my video but will it automatically resize to fit in the blue container next to the picture that says (a simple plan) near the top of the page? To check this out my site is LifeLaunchCoach.com
*** I’m trying to get the Intro video you see at the top into that blue box under it and the same size as the picture next to it. P.S. what do you think of the look of the site so far and the intro video?
3) Is there a way I can just give you a temp password to go in and do it yourself. It would probably be quicker for you to do that then answer these questions. LOL Still want answers to my questions though.
4) Will the upgrade override my previous visual composer?
5) What else will it change?
6) If I like the older format better can I switch back?
7) Is there any potential downside to being verified?
8) On both my computers, one which is a new Galaxy note 4, I don’t get volume. Does your video have volume? If so is there a way to get it?
Please answer the following questions from last time which I think refers to the older X Version
1) Do I need to use to use the video short code?
2)) Does the video short code go with the embed Youtube code or the Youtube video address?
3) Will my video automatically resize to fit inside the container next to the first picture at the top right on my page that says A Simple Plan? If not what is the best way to do this?
Just to let you know I already read the advice offered to other people having this challenge but the info wasn’t simple enough for me to follow and the video I found showed how to embed a video (which I did) but not in visual composer.
Thanks,
Jim

November 12, 2015 at 12:28 pm #662830Thanks for the update tips. Hopefully by updating my X theme I can finally position my video where I want it and finally launch my internet business and make a positive difference in people’s lives. Amazingly, I’ve been trying to move my intro video a few inches for a few days.

November 12, 2015 at 6:18 pm #663253Hi there,
Sure, I’ll try my best answering them 🙂
1. For automatic update, yes, you have to validate your X theme. But for manual update (downloading latest files from themeforest to update your site through FTP) then not necessary.
2. Not sure what you mean by fit? Width or height? The video will fit through width automatically while maintaining its aspect ratio. Thus height change according to width, and I’m not sure if that’s the fitting you’re referring. Columns has margin too, which creates space between two content. Thus, the video only fits to the container, but the container has spaces that separate them. Would you mind telling us how you expect the fitting? 🙂
3. Sure, and you may provide it in private reply.
4. Depends of what you upgrade. If you upgrade VC, then the plugin itself will be replaced but not the content created by it. If it’s X theme and cornerstone upgrade, then VC shouldn’t be affected. Unless, the update contains structure that is meant for transition between formats. The answer is, it depends 🙂
5. With? The VC upgrade? Could be structure, not sure though. It’s not our plugin so we can’t predict what else they will change. But as long as it’s related to shortcodes we provided, then there are not much change. And if it’s big change, then we will surely going to provide changelog about it 🙂
6. Yes, but that means you have to rollback your site. Backing up your site before the upgrade is very important.
7. None, it’s just to allow automatic update directly from our server.
8. It depends on the player, please check this http://theme.co/x/demo/integrity/1/shortcodes/responsive-video/.
9. If you wish to use players that X is being use ( which is also responsive and designed for X theme ), then you have to use video shortcode. But, you can always use your preferred responsive player.
10. It’s youtube video embed. And you have to use youtube API if you wish to directly use youtube’s video address, which isn’t possible yet with our video shortcode.
11. It will fit to the container, but again, the container itself has space. You have to remove container’s margin if you wish to get rid the space. If you wish to fit the height, then you have to change’s video’s bottom padding too. But, note that not all video respond, because even if you fit them, the video itself will not fit (it will use black space to fill gaps so it won’t stretch). Example, just when you play a vertical video in youtube and it has to fill both side’s gap with black background to maintain aspect ratio and quality.
Working with video is tricky, and there is no universal or permanent fix to make it fit and responsive. The solution depends on current setup and your expected result. Which, you may let us know so we can give you some recommendation depending to what you wish to achieve.
Thanks!
November 17, 2015 at 10:26 pm #669456Hello,
Thanks again for the help. Let me try to simplify everything. I have X theme 2.0.1 active along with visual composer 4.1.3. I’m still trying to place my intro video from Youtube on my front page of my website LifeLaunchCoach.com towards the top of my page under where it says You Can do This and to the left of the picture that says A Simple Plan where now it’s just a blank white box. I want the video to be the same size as the picture next to it. Please look at my site for clarification.
Please tell me how to do this with the version Of X theme and visual composer I have listed above in a few simple steps so hopefully one last email will resolve this matter. Just a reminder any missed step or techie language could lose me.
Thanks,
Jim
