    Hi Xters,

I have a new WP installation in an /xtheme/ sub-folder on mywebsite.com with both the X-Theme and X-Child installed (i.e. mywebsite.com/xtheme/) This is a new X-Theme purchase so everything should be current and I have Linux hosting with GoDaddy.

The rest of mywebsite.com was not built with X-Theme or WordPress (except for a pre-existing blog which also does not use X-Theme.)

I’ll be building a duplicate (more or less) of mywebsite.com with the X-Theme/X-Child inside the /xtheme/ sub-folder which will be ‘under construction’ for a month or two until it’s ready to replace the old website build (i.e. the exiting non-XTheme build that’s visible online will be swapped out for the new X-Theme build at that time and the /xtheme/ development sub-folder will be deleted.

Activation Question: Should I designate mywebsite.com as the licensed site now (even though it doesn’t use X Theme) and designate mywebsite.com/xtheme/ as the development site? Or should I just designate mywebsite.com/xtheme/ as the licensed site for now and change the licensed site to mywebsite.com later without designating a development site at all?

I’m also concerned about keeping all the plugins fully functional while in development and after the relaunch… any issues there?

Does this this seem like a good strategy for developing the replacement with X Theme if you’re allowed to comment?

    Thanks

Or should I just designate mywebsite.com as the licensed site and the sub-folder mywebsite.com/xtheme/ is already included as part of that designation (even if it’s under construction?)

    Hi there @ajonesx,

    Thanks for writing in!

You can validate your site using your main domain name, i.e., mywebsite.com and it should work for sub-directories too. For more information on validation, refer to our knowledge base article on product validation.

As you are using single domain and its sub-directory (i.e., mywebsite.com/xtheme), validation should work on both live and development site. So you should be able to keep both up to date using our automatic updates.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We’re happy to help. 🙂

    Thank you!
