Hello,
I’m thinking of using the “slider” element for my website. Before I go and learn to do it, may I know if:a) it will slow down the loading speed of the page?
b) if yes, any difference if I put the slider in the subsequent pages, not the Home page of my website?
c) any difference in loading speed if I were to display 5 photos on my Home page side by side, as opposed to using 1 slider to slide in the 5 photos one at a time?
d) will I improve the loading speed if I use a modal popup (from ConvertPlug) to introduce a photo as opposed to placing the photo straightaway on the webpage without any popup?

Thanks for writing in!
#1] Yes it will slow down a bit because it load necessary css and js scripts for the slider and these files could add more into the page size and performance.
#2] An image in the slider will add more file size for the page to load. So having to add a slider in other pages will only contribute to the page size on that page and not on the other page.
#3] There is a difference because if you only have images, only the file size of the image is added to the page. If the images will be in a slider, then it would be the filesize of the images plus the JS and CSS of the slider.
#4] It is still the same since convertplug has also its own css and JS file to perform the tasks.
I would recommend a slider but still it depends on how your page layout will look like. If you can use only images then it is good but if a slider is really necessary then you’ll have to use the slider. Anyways you can improve your site performance later on. Since sliders slow down loading, I’ll give it a miss. Whereas, ConvertPlug seems to be a better choice since you said that it does not slow down loading.
Appreciate the great tips.

You’re always welcome!
What Runel says is both Convertplug and Revslider has CSS and Javascript library like any other plugin that needs to be loaded. Although not significant that is detriment to your site loading and performance. If you can install caching, you’re good to go! Although caching is best if you’re done with site development.Hope this helps.
