Hello all,
I am new on this forum but quite experienced WordPress developer.Just a simple question:
Is there a way to make Cornerstone “only editing” for users that are actually clients?
I would much prefer that only I -the developer- am able to modify any page/post/custom post type built with Cornertone and really don’t want my clients messing around with “my toolbox”.
So max freedom to users to edit/remove content but not giving them the ability to alter in any way the layout that I have built for them. If you don’t have this feature I would strongly recommend to add it at some point.
I bought X theme very recently and I must say I am very impressed.
Please, keep going adding new features and please, please, please, make Cornerstone fully compatible with Types and Views and more in general with Toolset.
Best Regards

In WordPress dashboard, please navigate to Settings > Cornerstone > Permissions > select the specific roles to edit with Cornerstone:
Hope it helps 🙂
March 26, 2016 at 12:43 pm #853534Thanks a lot, I have missed that setting.
So to clarify, all content created by Cornerstone that is contained in the various sections that are included in a page are rendered inside the default WordPress editing area. I have noticed that also the shortcodes opening and closing tags are visible and this can be quite intimidating for the user.
Is there any way to hide shortcode tags? Otherwise still fine, I have only to train the client to edit any content he/she likes outside the shortcode tags.
I really look forward to re design my website using X and Cornertone.
Best Regards

You will agree that a user friendly website can be even more convenient for developers, Not allowing editors to use Cornerstone look very drastic… Can you think to fine tune the permissions allowing editors to use Cornerstone that can be a joy for them and in the mean time “LOCK” the layouts and prevent them to use the building section of CS?
Hope my question is clear.March 26, 2016 at 7:21 pm #853759Hello Roberto,
There is no way to hide the shortcode tags. Once you created the post or page in Cornerstone, all you see in the default WP editor will have several X related Cornerstone shortcodes. Please also keep in mind that you are not suppose to switch between Cornerstone and WP editor. Doing so could messed up the layout and invalidate Cornerstone data. You may no longer able to edit it again in Cornerstone.
Regretfully there isn’t a feature in X that you can lock the layouts. This could be something we can add to our list of feature requests. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive.
Thanks!

So to stay in the safe side clients must use Cornerstone too.No problems, I will try my best to educate them to not mess around with the building sections area.
It will be great to have in the future a feature that allow a developer to lock the Building part of Cornerstone, hope you will consider to add it on a wish list.
Best Regards
