Hi Guys,
I’ve just updated to V2.6.0 by uploading the x.zip file. I’m being asked to update these two plugins with a couple of messages. Both plugins are listed under my plugins list though I did not buy them separately. I don’t really understand why I’m being asked to do this or how this works. Do I really need to update them or has updating to the latest version of the theme also do that?
If I do need to update them then how do I do that? If I try to update WPBakery Visual composer (currently version 4.1.3) by following the link “Download new version from CodeCanyon” then I’m asked to buy it.
The messages are:
The following recommended plugin is currently inactive: Visual Composer.
The following plugin needs to be updated to its latest version to ensure maximum compatibility with this theme: Slider Revolution.
Activate installed plugin | Dismiss this notice
and under X Addons:
The following recommended plugin is currently inactive: Visual Composer.
The following plugin needs to be updated to its latest version to ensure maximum compatibility with this theme: Slider Revolution.
Activate installed plugin | Dismiss this notice
Activating the VC plugin doesn’t change anything.
thanks
October 13, 2014 at 10:22 am #124328If you are using the plugins it is highly recommended you update them. Slider Revolution and Visual Composer are two plugins that come bundled with X and are highly customized for X, so when X releases an update usually an update is also available for Slider and VC. I hope this helps.
October 14, 2014 at 4:45 am #124772So how do I update a plugin that is bundled with X if I don’t have a separate license for the plugin? Do I need a licence code or some such number from Themeco to do this update?
When I try to update them from the list on the plugins page, two things happen:
Firstly, it tells me that I already have the latest version of “slider”, though the version number in my plugins remains unchanged (v4.5.95) – but in fact the latest version available is 4.6.
Secondly, it tells me:
An error occurred while updating WPBakery Visual Composer: Before you can update your Elegant Themes, you must first install the Elegant Updater Plugin to authenticate your subscription.
I’m working in a multisite environment where I have an ElegantThemes theme on another site. They have advised me that this plugin is not related to their theme.
October 14, 2014 at 10:13 am #125006Hey There,
we ship our own versions of the plugins so you only update the plugins when we are shipping a newer version with our theme. If you’re running 2.6+ of X and entered your API key you get automatic updates so you don’t have to worry about manually updating these plugins. Note however that our version of Visual Composer is a different version than the native one. We only use the framework of Visual Composer and use our own shortcodes so if you’re not using X or using not our Visual Composer you will run into issues.
