I’ve moved a site that was validated to a testing server in a DEV environment so that I could safely update the software. It would be silly to attempt this on a live site. Especially a corporate site where there are thousands of dollars in sales on every single day. As soon as the site is at the new URL, the site is no longer validated making it impossible to update.

    1) So how do we do this. I know you said there was a new way of registering sites that would help with this.
    2)Is this available?
    3) If not, when?
    4) What do you recommend for updating software on a live site?

    Hi Cris,

    Thanks for writing in!

You have two options for this.

    1. Revoke validation in your dev site then validate your live site.

    2. Update your live site manually using ftp.

    See Manual Updates – https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/

Please make sure to create full backup of your site before updating.

Duplicator – Backups & Migration Plugin – Cloud Backups, Scheduled Backups, & More

    Hope that helps.

The new site registration works great. I just keep one floating copy of a license for doing updates.
