Hi Themeco,
When updating X & CS I currently complete a diff against existing files. Then removing old files and them replacing all new files to the themes/x and plugins/conerstone folders.
I wanted to ask if there any persistent data stored themes/x or plugins/conerstone folders, for templates, etc?
I there any reason not to completely delete existing themes/x and plugins/conerstone folders and then copy over the new ones when an update X and CS update is released?
Many thanks.
April 1, 2016 at 12:28 am #862067Hi there,
Thanks for writing in! If your site is validated then you can update the theme and plugins right from the WordPress Dashboard. You can check from Dashboard > Updates if there any updates available.
Cheers!
April 1, 2016 at 5:47 am #862384Hi Rupok,
I’m asking with regards to manual updates… as nice as automatic updates are, from experience I don’t use them for anything. I prefer to have the total full manual control of how updates a completed – for theme and all plugins. Thats the reason I’m asking.
So going back to my question, is there any persistent data stored themes/x or plugins/conerstone folders, for templates, etc?
I there any reason not to completely delete existing themes/x and plugins/conerstone folders and then copy over the new ones when an update X and CS update is released?
Thanks again.
April 1, 2016 at 3:17 pm #863046Hi there,
Relevant data will be stored in the database, so you can delete theme files or cornerstone plugin files to install them again.
Please refer to our update guide here (https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/).
Hope that helps.
