I have a website with the 1.7.4 version of the Theme that was not updated since. It was not activated back in the day because I didn’t understand how at first. I now know how but there is no “X Addons” button or anything X related in the wordpress sidebar. I want to update it and activate it but there is no way to update the theme that I have found.
So I have tried uninstalling the Theme and reinstalling it with a more recent version. When I installed the newer version of the Theme it crashed the ENTIRE website. And I could not login my wordpress anymore. So I contacted my host to revert to last backup, they did it and told me the crash was caused by cornerstone when it installed with the Theme.
So I have no idea how I could update my theme without loosing my website.

X version 1.7.4 is extremely old. There have been a lot of changes and feature additions since then. You can visit our Changelog for more information.
I’d advise creating an staging environment of your site and then update the theme and plugins there. Please visit our Updating Your Theme and Plugins for more detail.
