i’m having a multisite installation running with X 2.3.0, both sites running on the same child theme (integrity stack), but are largely unmodified.

after the latest wordpress update VC isn’t working anymore (loading indefinitely), and so i thought it would be about time to upgrade.

trying to go the manual way obviously, replacing the old x theme folder with the new one, two issues i got so far:

1. kaffeeteeverband.at looks fine, but teeverband.at is lacking a lot of css (as mentioned, both on the same child theme)

2. after the automatic installation of cornerstone things go “blank”, log giving:
mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare x_shortcode_dropcap() (previously declared in /var/www/vhosts/kaffeeteeverband.at/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/includes/shortcodes/dropcap.php:6) in /var/www/vhosts/kaffeeteeverband.at/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/x-shortcodes/functions/shortcodes.php on line 78
on every request to the site.

are there any suggestions for best practices on how to upgrade from such old installation?

Thanks for writing in!

I assume that you are using a legacy child theme. In the latest version of X, we changed the location of the stack styles.css. In order to resolve the css issue, please check out this topic here for further explanation: https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/child-theme-updates/

Regarding the PHP error generated, this happened because in the latest version of X starting 4.0, we have retired and removed X shortcodes. Please deactivate and delete X Shortcodes plugin. Please take note that X shortcodes and its functionality has been consolidated into Cornerstone which you can install by going to X Addons > Extensions.
