I’m wanting to validate my API key in order to update my X theme and use Cornerstone but have been receiving errors.
I’m receiving the following error message when attempting to validate my API key within my X-theme:
‘“Could not establish connection. Please ensure your firewall is not blocking request to theme.co”’
You guys suggesested to check the following:
Make sure that your server environment is not blocking your connection to “theme.co” by checking the firewall settings.
Another possible issue is that your site has not properly configured CURL which is required for HTTP requests to Theme.co. Basically ask them to check CURL & OpenSSL.
When I raised this with my hosting company, Siteground they requested the following:
Please contact your Theme’s developers/vendor and ask them for the IP address and the port on which the theme connects to their API in order to validate the theme.
This way we will be able to enable the connection in the server’s firewall, so you can successfully validate the theme. So now I need to know the IP address from you guys to get this fixed please.

Using Ethos child themeMarch 13, 2016 at 7:20 am #835718Hi There,
We’re sorry to hear your site is having issues. This is usually a result of a temporary loss of network connectivity, or that your server’s PHP configuration is unsuited to fully operate WordPress.
To get started, we’d encourage you to try the troubleshooting suggestions on this page:
https://community.theme.co//kb/connection-issues/
Because of the liklihood that this is a PHP configuration problem, you may need to contact your host. In that article we’ve included a form letter you can use so they know what to look for.
Let us know what you find out!
