    Hello!

I want to translate some of the text on my webpage. I just installed WooCommerce, and at the shop page it says “The Shop”, and
“Welcome to our online store. Take some time to browse through our items.”

I have installed the plugin Loco Translate. I added a new language, and placed the files under themes/x, and not under languages/themes. I tried to change “The Shop” and the text below, but it didn’t work. I then tried to change the text in the .po file using Poedit, but that didn’t work either.

What’s wrong, and how do I fix it? Thanks!

If I remember correctly, “The Shop” text comes from the Customizer settings – have you checked your WooComm. settings there?

The easiest way to translate strings from the WooComm. files that X uses, is to use the .pot.
    More information: https://community.theme.co/kb/translation/

You can simply search for the strings you need to translate and upload as described in the KB article.
That way, you don’t need another plugin and you slow your site down a little less.

Thanks for chiming in, Marti. That is correct. The Shop Title and Subtitle (if applicable) is available or can be edited under Appearance > Customize > (Your Stack) > Shop Options.

    Thanks.

    Thank you very much!
Unfortunately I was not able to find “Shop Options” in Appearance > Customize. I found “WooCommerce”, but I was not able to translate the shop, just change the layout of the shop.

I don’t really know what you mean by “Your stack”, but I went into “Stack”, where I could choose between Integrity, Renew, Icon and Ethos. No translation or “Shop Options” here as well.

In the Customizer, some settings are NOT where you’d expect them πŸ˜‰

WooCommerce has it’s own settings in the Customizer, but the text you’re trying to translate is found elsewhere.
No clue as to why, but it probably made sense when the team was designing the Customizer …

Navigate to your Customizer, and click the stack you’ve chosen – this is the 2nd option from the top, right below “Stack”. This 2nd menu option reads either Integrity, Renew, Icon or Ethos, depending on which stack you’re using.

So whatever your 2nd menu option reads in Customizer, click on it.
Next, scroll all the way down and you’ll see “Shop Options”, where you can change the text:
