Is there anyway to add a Twitter follow button (reference page below) to the right of the last button/item on the main navigation on DailyTekk.com (in this case “About”)? In other words, it wouldn’t be a nav item, just a button that can be pressed to people can follow us on Twitter.
June 13, 2014 at 5:05 pm #56064Hey Chris,
Thanks for writing in! The absolute best place for something like this would be in the Topbar Content area, which can be found under the Header section in the Customizer. This section is tailor made for content like this and it should look great across all devices and respond perfectly. Adding this element to the right of the navbar as you specified would be quite extensive as it would require lots of modifications and customizations to the header area to account for responsive styling and other situations.
Regretfully we cannot support any modifications to the header other than minor cosmetic changes due to the fact that X is a highly dynamic theme with many elements being constructed on the fly based on options in the Customizer. Among these, the header is one of the more complex elements of the theme and structural modifications to it will likely lead to numerous layout problems as there are a lot of things to take into consideration because of X’s responsive nature. Taking all of this into consideration, these types of updates are out of the scope of our support as their involvement is simply too great and we are a very small team. While we would love to be able to assist all of our users with every customization request, the simple reality is that we cannot cater to every inquiry. Additionally, we will not be able to support any issues that might arise from modifications made to this area on your own.
I would definitely consider placing this element within the Topbar Content section of your Customizer as that should give you what you desire without any extensive modifications.
Thanks!

So to be clear you recommend putting it in the topbar but you can’t tell me how to do it?
June 27, 2014 at 3:58 pm #62211Hi Chris,
Already described in previous reply, how to add them. Again simplifying it for you below.
1) Get the follow button codes from here: https://about.twitter.com/resources/buttons#follow for your Twitter ID.
2) Now, please go to Customizer > Expand Header > Paste the codes into Topbar Content area
Hope this helps, Cheers!

AnonymousHello !
We are having the same issue. How do we include the twitter follow button on the wordpress homepage ?
Tried to add the code produced by https://about.twitter.com/resources/buttons#follow into a text box into a column into the visual composer but it does not appear properly. Can this button be added to the header or footer ?
October 8, 2014 at 3:40 pm #121648Could you provide us with your URL? There are quite a few twitter widget plugins out there that might help you out especially if you want to add it to the footer. Several are mentioned here – http://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/resources/best-twitter-widget-plugins-for-wordpress. The Jetpack by WordPress.com plugin, for example, includes a Twitter Timeline widget that is identical to the one that Twitter provides. You can try these that have been updated recently https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-twitter-feed-widget/
