Hi, I’ve downloaded the Cornerstone POT file and started translating using Poedit.
    I then uploaded (cornerstone zh_TW.po & cornerstone zh_TW.mo) to:

    public_html/wp-content/languages/plugins

    &

    public_html/wp-content/languages

    &
    public_html/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/lang

but the translations are not working.

Finally i uploaded the PO file through WPML (upload PO file) and i now can see my translated strings in the WPML backend.
Unfortunately the cornerstone builder is still not displaying the translated language.
I’m not sure what i’ve missed.

I’ve also translated Rev slider using the same method and the translations are working great.

( my theme, plugins etc… are all up to date)

    attached is current PO file

Please note i haven’t translated everything yet.
The text : (Edit with Cornerstone) has been translated but is not showing.

Ok things got a little stranger,

When i create a new page/post and select original language as chinese, then Cornerstone translations appear (Ex: create with Cornerstone, Display, etc…

When i create a new page/post in English, Cornerstone remains in English

Previously created pages: when editing english, cornerstone is in English, when editing Chinese, Chinese version works.

Please bear in mind that my user profile is set to Chinese.

    Hi there,

Cornerstone translation depends on currently active language, and it’s more on admin dependent. It’s only loading in front, but resources are loaded as admin, so mixed of both front and back. What you’re getting is just normal.

Would you mind providing your FTP login credentials as well?

    Thanks!

What i’m hoping for is when my client signs in, the cornerstone builder (controls, elements, Text, admin etc) are all in his language. (Chinese)

Regardless if he is creating/editing an English page or Chinese Page.

Revolution slider for example: whether my slider is in Chinese or English the admin is always in Chinese.

I assumed this was possible with cornerstone as well.

    Hi there,

It works that way since there is a slider dedicated for Chinese or English. If you click Slider5 on admin bar it will then goes to slider editing in English. And if you click Homepage Chinese in the admin bar, then it will go to slider editing in Chinese. It’s not related to translation since you didn’t translate, you only assigned dedicated slider per page that represent the language.

Translation works on the cornerstone, but again, you’ll have to choose the language first. You may also try setting the Chinese language as default.

And, your WPML setting is set to Translate the theme and plugins using WPML’s String Translation, which, you will need to translate your site by using String Translations, instead of just mo/po files.

    Thanks!

Hmm maybe i did not explain my self clearly. Let’s just focus on Cornerstone here.

This is what i would like:

    User 1 (admin)
    user Settings :admin in English
Editing English cornerstone page/post/portfolio : Admin remains in English
Editing Chinese cornerstone page/post/portfolio : Admin remains in English (important)

    User 2 (admin)
    user Settings :admin in Chinese
Editing English cornerstone page/post/portfolio : Admin remains in Chinese (important)
Editing Chinese cornerstone page/post/portfolio : Admin remains in Chinese

    User 3 (Editor/Contributor/Author)
    user Settings :admin in Chinese
Editing English cornerstone page/post/portfolio : Admin remains in Chinese (important)
Editing Chinese cornerstone page/post/portfolio : Admin remains in Chinese

To reply to your previous post:

“Translation works on the cornerstone, but again, you’ll have to choose the language first. You may also try setting the Chinese language as default.”
Switching site default languages does not make any difference to my issue, regardless if i’m switching it from the WordPress general settings, or the WPML default language settings.

“And, your WPML setting is set to Translate the theme and plugins using WPML’s String Translation, which, you will need to translate your site by using String Translations, instead of just mo/po files.”
WPML has a feature where you can upload mo/po files to the translation strings and this is working fine on the back end, and showing up clearly in the translations strings.Furthermore for testing purposes i have manually translated the “EDIT with Cornerstone” string and set string translation as complete.

Please get back to me asap!
    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Does that mean each user has their own language? Seems that’s not possible. All users share same languages that are available through the site. A user can edit an English or Chinese page by hitting the pencil icon (mostly above the publish button section, or through its listing page). This is not theme related but mostly related to WPML plugin.

There is no setting that limits a user account to the specific language. But maybe possible through WPML customization and not something we could do. You may wish to contact a developer that’s more familiar with WPML.

    Thanks!

I contacted WPML dev and they fixed a similar problem.
But now none of my translations of cornerstone plugin seem to work. please check.

In wordpress it’s very normal for each user to have their own admin language.
