Hey,
I want to change my domain name but keep all my content, including x theme and other premium plugins.
How do i go about doing this? Do I follow http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress, or should I do what my host wants me to do?
Or can I just get a fresh site and then download the theme file form themeforest and then revoke the api?
Will x theme be lost in this process?
Thanks
March 22, 2016 at 11:11 pm #848991Hi there,
Thanks for writing in! You can follow our Migration article to move your site. It would be better if you revoke the API Key and generate for new domain and then migrate your site.
Cheers!
March 23, 2016 at 12:28 am #849066Hey,
To clarify, my service provider, Bluehost told me that i had to move some files and the rest they will handle themselves on their end.
They also told me that everything in my site (including x themes) will be kept on my new domain upon renaming account. The only content i currently have on my website is menu customisation done through Custom > CSS on the Customizer, and not on Cornerstone, as well as some php.function modifications on the child theme. Will I need to do the steps delineated on the migration page you linked me to make sure the site on the new domain is working as intended, including downloading migrate DB?
Also, could you confirm if the Migrate DB plugin is used specifically for moving cornerstone content or x theme and other plugins in general? I want to use x theme and keep the modifications on my new domain without breaking anything, and I have one license only.
Thank you.

Yes, the procedure for migrating cornerstone content using Migrate DB is for cornerstone only, and not for the whole site. If you’re planning on moving from different domain to another domain then I’m recommending the All in one migration plugin.
Export the whole site, then once your hosting is done with changing domain and account. You can import your site back using the same plugin again. It will restore your site while updating all URL with your new domain.
Hope that helps.
