DerekbyDesignParticipantHi,
I am on the quest for the perfect dropcaps, that looks like this http://prnt.sc/4zo9pg
from this forum I have been able to get every single point except the bottom part. It seems like there is still a gap underneath my dropcap that does not allow text to be there. I already decreased the width between the drop cap and the text on the right. Positioned it just right on the top. But there still seems to be something hindering text from flowing below the dropcap.This is the css code I am using
.x-dropcap {
color: #000 !important;
background-color: #fff !important;
font-size: 120px !important;
padding: 0;
margin-right: 7px;
margin-top: 9px !important;
}and this is the post with the dropcap https://theblazingahead.com/how-to-see-what-others-dont/
added is images of my current dropcap and of my dream dropcap here too http://prnt.sc/4zo9pg
Thank you so much appreciate it allot!

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thanks for writing in and for the very detailed information. When styling you dropcaps, please make sure that the font size and the line height is set. Please also make sure that there is no conflict with the font size and line height of the texts next to the dropcap.
Regarding the grid, please keep in mind that WordPress will remove any html and shortcodes in displaying the excerpts. The excerpts will be displayed as a plain text by default.
Hope this helps.

DerekbyDesignParticipantHi,
Thank you for your fast reply. The gap below the dropcap was the same as on the right. It was fixed. Is there no way that i can lessen the gap below the dropcap? I can clearly see that the issue as previously with all the other adjustments were because of the dropcap, no changing of the font size helps here, had many many adjustments.
Secondly is this not a huge problem if the dropcaps do not show up in excerpts, i though dropcaps was included in the package. Do you know of any other way that I can display the full excerpt or bypass this. It is very odd that the system will delete something that should be part of the system. If the dropcaps do not show up in exerpts then at least it should show the missing character.
Thank you

DerekbyDesignParticipantHi I fixed the excerpt issue, my first letter now appears on my excerpts. The big and i know fixable issue now is to close the gap underneath my dropcap. I have exhausted all other avenues.

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
thanks for updating in! To reduce the space at the bottom of the dropcap, please try to vary the font size of the drop cap against the font size of the surrounding text. Another factor to consider is the font family itself. Please try using other font family and see how it affects the space at the bottom together with the font size.
By the way, regarding the excerpts, I would highly recommend that you check out the Codex as X only relies on WordPress to display the generated excerpt. One thing to remember that any html code and shortcodes will be removed from the excerpts. Since the dropcap is a shortcode or a custom element, it is being removed from the excerpt.
To fully understand about how the excerpts works in WordPress, please check it here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Excerpt
