Hi,
When using the X-theme Google Maps shortcode x_google_map, how do you specify your Google Maps API key?
Regards,Emmanuel
March 16, 2016 at 3:41 am #839730Hey Emmanuel,
I’m sorry but I’m not sure what you’re trying to achieve. The Google map element does not have that option.
Thanks.
March 16, 2016 at 12:37 pm #840431Using the x_google_map shortcode raises:
Google Maps API warning: NoApiKeys https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#no-api-keys
As per Google policy “All JavaScript API applications require authentication” and it’s simply a matter of being compliant by specifying our own API key.
Regards

April 27, 2016 at 10:53 am #902440Hello,
We have the same issue and couldn’t resolve it by following the other thread.
The warning is shown on this page: https://v2.magikweb.ca/contactez-nous/We have an API Key we use for our projects and would like to apply it as shown by Google: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key#spcifier-une-cl-dans-votre-requte
We currently added the Google Maps using CornerStone, is there a way to add the key in the URL?
Thank you!
April 27, 2016 at 8:36 pm #903298Hi there,
@Concorde, You should contact a developer that can help you with API Key. Your map on the page you provided has a map but it’s not using X’s map shortcode.
@magikweb, It could be a new MAP standard which recently implemented by google. Our map shortcode doesn’t even use any API directly (it only loads the google map URL that is responsible for rendering), but if this is google’s new strict requirement then we should implement the new standard as well. I can’t provide a solution for now as it’s part of the core but while testing, such warning doesn’t effect on the map at all. Stay tuned.
Thanks!
April 28, 2016 at 8:40 am #904111Thank you for the response @rad.
While it is not mandatory as of right now, they suggest it will be required in the future. Also, it gives a few technical advantages to apply it. I’d add an optional field “API Key” that adds it in the URL as shown. That’d be awesome.Thank you for this amazing theme.
April 28, 2016 at 9:55 pm #905075Hi there,
Yes noted that, but it’s up to our developer and there is no temporary fix available.
Stay tuned!
May 23, 2016 at 1:49 pm #1005763I’m interested in this, too, bc I’m getting warnings in JS console and wondering if it will become mandatory eventually. Thanks for keeping us posted!
WARNING: The script element that loads the API has no API key. Please make sure you include a valid API key as a key parameter. You can generate a new API key on the Google Developers Console.
WARNING: The sensor parameter is no longer required for the Google Maps JavaScript API. It won’t prevent the Google Maps JavaScript API from working correctly, but we recommend that you remove the sensor parameter from the script element.
May 23, 2016 at 2:04 pm #1005797Sure thing, stay tuned!
June 29, 2016 at 11:50 am #1065121Any update on this? My maps stopped working and now require an API key.
I found the solution here – https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/map-error/#post-1059000
