    Hi,

    My website is loading EXTREMELY slow and sometimes it isn’t even loading at all. I’ve tried deactivating most of the plugins, ran a speed test, contacted tech support and they said it’s the content data. The only thing I have on the website are the demo content and the plugins that came with the theme which worries me more because I don’t want it to act like this or slower when i actually have my own content which will be more then 10 posts.

    Hi Eddie,

    I have a ton of images and video and my site is fast. I tried to take a look at your site and I couldn’t get it to load (like you say). I then ran a test using http://gtmetrix.com/ and it reports connectivity issues. You said you contacted support, but I’m 99% sure it’s still your hosting. Perhaps they are having the connectivity issues referred to. I am not a part of the X support team… I’m just a user like you. But thought this might help.

    Look at my site. It has several large hi-res images and a demo video. I use BlueHost Dedicated Hosting and feed my images with Amazon CDN. As you can see, it’s pretty fast despite the content. http://golf.flickslocal.com/

    Hi there!

    Thank you for using the theme!

    @steve: Thanks for helping out. Good job on the website!

    @Eddie: Usually minimizing the image sizes and number of plugins that you install will greatly improve the performance. These are the things that you can do to optimize the website speed and page load courtesy of the XIP who help built the X theme:

    1. Optimize all images with AI/Photoshop before uploading to server ‘save as web safe’ jpg
    2. Once all images are on the website optimize with ewww optimizer plugin twice 1hr 10mins apart.
    3. Install wp-smushit run once to remove jpeg extra data, then uninstall.
    4. Use BWP minify plugin to minify scripts and stylesheets.
    5. Install WP-Super cache, select all recommended settings.
    6. Logout your website, visit every page at least once to create super cache files.
    7. Join Cloudflare setup your website on their CDN, Choose options: Full CDN Optimisation save then activate purge files. once done log out.
    8. Have a cup of coffee.
    9. Visit your site after 20 minutes or so.
    10. Don’t forget to smile.

    I hope that helps.

    I’m having the same issue… I’ve been building this page for weeks and it’s been slow the entire time. I love the theme but I’m afraid it slows me down to much to use in the future if there’s no real solution. It’s slow at home and at my office and I have other subdomains running off the same server/web address and they run perfectly fine.

    Hi Hillary!

    I’m sorry that you’re having this issue.

    Do you mind if we take a look at the website? Please follow the steps above to optimize the website. Another thing that you can consider is to transfer the website on a dedicated server.

    Cheers!

    Hi Hillary,

    Upon checking, receiving request from your site is kind of slow. And you may follow the above instructions about optimizing your contents.

    But the other thing I found out which contributing to slow response is that your site/host takes time to accept connection and takes time on waiting.

    You could find your site’s performance here :
    http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bM3AuT/http://iron.cunninghamadv.com/

    Blue = Connecting
    Yellow = Waiting
    Green = Receiving

    X is just a theme which serve by a host for browser rendering. Depending on processing time and content size, receiving duration can be slow. But I’m sure it wont affect connection delay from your host.

    You may need to get some insight from your host, and you could forward that link.

    Thank you.

    Hello
    I have the same issue with loading time. When i look at my server response its like 0.5 to 1.3 seconds and its fair, i try to reinstall the plugs and it does not make a difference. I try to disable the revslider and its make wonder …halfway, still slower than all my other sites I´ve been doing. I have only the demo content so no need for making all my pics smaller or anything else.

    I then just change my x-theme to divi from elegantthemes and another theme named porcelain and tried those ….so much faster, now it feels like my js-files and slider cant be a part of a great theme in the beginning. Any suggestions?

    Hi Johan,

    for me the site is loading fine although I am getting an error when viewing your link since I am getting a 404 page. Can you maybe give us additional information so we can take a deeper look into this to figure out why you are experiencing those problems.

    Hi there
    I too am having some serious slow loading issues with my X sites, I have some large images but they have been optimized correctly in PS. I have looked at the speed tests but am struggling to identify what would speed things up.

    I would really appreciate some indicators of what I could do to help.

    Hey Alex,

    In Safari browser, the navigation menu is missing, was it working before you enabled W3TC plugin? Disable the plugin and use an alternative cache plugin instead.

    You can try these : https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-fastest-cache/

    Hello,

    I am also experiencing very slow loading time. I have set up Cloudflare and W3 Total Cache as well as WP Optimiser to try and help with this, but although performance has improved the load speed is still too slow. According to the tests I have run on pingdom it seems to be the wait time on my home page http://www.astratelli.com, Ajax admin.php, custom css and some of the images that are mostly causing the problem.

    Are you able to make any further suggestions? Should I be using a child theme to help with the custom css? I didn’t think I had written that much, but maybe it is worth using a child theme? I have already chosen jpegs that are saved for web. (I de-installed WP-Smush It because it was causing problems with my media library.) What would be a reasonable file size to expect for good quality images on the web? As a luxury jewellery design site, I cannot compromise on image quality. Is there any way that I can cache or otherwise speed up the Ajax admin and my home page?

    Many thanks for your help. It’s much appreciated.

    Hey There,

    I’ve checked your site and a lot of your images are very big. Most of the time 3 times bigger than the max width the site even can reach if it would be an image that is taking full width of the page although the image is in fact only in a 1/3 container or similar. I would recommend resizing all your images and making no image higher than 1200px width and don’t forget to smush all the images before uploading them. A good example is this image: http://astratelli.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Be-inspired-Domini-web.jpg it’s almost half an MB in file size and normally big images like this should not be bigger than 100-200 kb.
