I am trying to create a slider revolution slide show using a static global layer as the consistent background at http://www.plugilo.com/plugilostage/. I created the slideshow, added the global/static layer background image, then what I want to do is have text (and maybe some images with the text, but haven’t gotten that far yet) be the slide show over the permanent background. So I created slide 1 and added text (I did it as an image since I created the text in photoshop with a transparent background), then did the same for slide 2, with different text, but slides 1 and 2 don’t show up. When you go to the site, all you see is the static background I created. I can’t seem to get slides 1 & 2 to show up. I even watched a WPTuts tutorial on creating static/global sliders and it didn’t help.

Not sure what setting I am missing to not have these slides appear.

    Hey there,

I see you have a Static Layer that covers all of the slide. Static Layers are best used for logos or small images that you want to show in all of your slides. Please remove your static layer and setup a default Slider Background instead as I perceive you’d like to setup a background (see attachment).

    Thanks.

OK. Yeah, that’s normally how I do it, I just thought this time I would try it with a static/global slider. When I did so I inadvertently found that when I set the static layers overflow to “visible” (and the fact that this image is around 2000×3000, with the slider setting being only 500px high), the background image spills down into the background of the first Cornerstone row below it. This is where I have 3 feature boxes now. When I saw that it did this, I kind of liked it…it’s different than what I have done in the past.

I would just, and may still just, do what you suggested, as that’s what I am familiar with doing anyway with a SR slideshow, but is there anyway of still achieving this effect with the slider rev background spilling down into the background of the 3 Cornerstone feature boxes below it…and still get the slideshow I want?

    Thanks

PS: do you know which Slider Revolution tutorial video teaches about the slider animation timing bar? How this bar works exactly and it’s settings are still a mystery to me and I usually just click and drag things until I get it somewhat right. I’d like to learn more on how that bar works….but there are tons of tutorials. If you don’t know, that’s fine, I will figure it out. Thanks.

    Hi There,

Global Static layer by default is on top of every slides on your slider.
Overflowing the Revslider background is not available by default. Hacking CSS for the overflow is not recommended because together with background your content might spill out too because of responsive nature.

    Hi there,

How about containing your slider and your 3 column items in the same section, but just separated by row. You can have multiple rows in single section in cornerstone, just click the Manage layout within your section inspector.

Then have that single section a background image, that will then cover both rows. And make your slider background transparent.

About the timeline, please check it here https://www.themepunch.com/revslider-doc/layer-animations-timeline/#layers-timing-sorting

    Thanks!

I see…that’d probably work nicely. I will try that approach out! Thanks guys!

And thanks for the links too 🙂
