Hi…have a real problem….
The home page of my site displays OK… http://edgazette.co.uk/
It just freezes if a use clicks on anything though, or is ridiculously slow.
Was editing ubermenu so thought that might be the problem…turned it off, problem not solved.
Then turned to cornerstone (just updated to new version)….back end of site working fine, but if I open a page in cornerstone the layout is all messed up.
Saw others in the forum are having problems….checked my php version (I’m with tsohost)…it was v4…and have updated it via tsohost control panel to 5.6.
Still suffering the same problems…site is unusable!
March 29, 2016 at 7:45 pm #857760Hey Chris,
Before we proceed, please backup your site and disable all third party plugins, scripts and customizations then give us access to your WordPress admin and FTP in a private reply.
Thanks.

Looks like the problem is in your home page content. I’ve create a test page at http://edgazette.co.uk/x-support-test/ and didn’t experience freezing. As said previously, please remove scripts (ads) and customizations also.
Please also try checking with your hosting provider on this particular issue as it sounds like something related to your setup is causing this. Typically, this is due server configuration problems (i.e. underpowered, traceroute issues, packet loss, permissions errors, et cetera). Additionally, your host will be able to diagnose things much better due to the fact that they have a more complete view of your account and can work behind the scenes with you. If the problem you are experiencing persists after working with your host, don’t hesitate to let us know and we will be happy to assist you. Any relevant information that you can share with us from your host is also greatly appreciated as it will help us to better ascertain the source of the problem.
Thanks.
March 30, 2016 at 3:35 am #858348Hi…thanks….I can see that the problem is related in some way to the home page, I will contact my host to see what they can find out.
Have noticed that I have Theme x 4.3.2, whereas your latest version is 4.4.1 ….nothing has come up in autoupdate?
Many thanks, Chris.
March 30, 2016 at 4:09 am #858384You’re welcome. Sometimes WordPress update notifications does not show up. To check for updates manually, please go to Dashboard > Updates. If updates does not show up, click the “Check Again” button (see attachment)
Thanks.
March 30, 2016 at 4:22 am #858394Have done that a few times…says all themes (and plugins) are up to date, yet theme x is 4.3.2
My hosts initial response is…
I have checked both the websites you are hosting on the Cloud service and noticed that indeed http://edgazette.co.uk/ is freezing. I have investigated and noticed the following error.
Error: Script terminated by timeout at:
e.prototype.typewrite/i.timeout<@http://edgazette.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/assets/js/dist/site/cs-body.min.js?ver=1.2.1:2:7903Please update this ticket with login details for the WordPress installation so I can further investigate your case. Also confirm if you allow me to try disabling plugins in order to find the origin of your issue.
They now have my login details, but the only plugin activated is cornerstone.
Many thanks, Chris.
March 30, 2016 at 5:43 am #858480This is the response from my hosts…
I have tried disabling the plugin Cornerstone but as it is required from the theme it is being reactivated automatically. Having in mind that the issue is caused by this plugin I would advise you change the theme you are using or contact the plugin developer and request assistance from them as this issue is out of our scope.
Cornerstone is the only plugin activated, so that’s clearly the issue here. Surely it’s related to my x being stuck at 4.3.2 with the dashboard saying this is the most up to date version?
I tried switching to the theme 2015, but I still get the error…e.prototype.typewrite/i.timeout<@http://edgazette.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/assets/js/dist/site/cs-body.min.js?ver=1.2.1:2:7903
Many thanks, Chris.
March 30, 2016 at 12:19 pm #859060I have now got hold of theme x4.4.1 from envato and installed it manually (did not appear as an auto update as mentioned above).
Unfortunately I still have the page freeze problem (with the error in the browser showing a timeout for http://edgazette.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/assets/js/dist/site/cs-body.min.js?ver=1.2.1.)
All plugins are deactivated except cornerstone. I am using theme x rather than my child theme. My host has investigated and found no other problems…they say the issue is with the cornerstone plugin.
I cannot take the google ads off my page as it also freezes in cornerstone.
I have not edited the home page for a few days and it was working fine before the cornerstone update. There seems to be nothing I can do…I am stuck with a broken website.
Please can you take a look as soon as possible and help me get back up and running.
Many thanks, Chris.
March 30, 2016 at 12:49 pm #859126There are two pages on my site that have the freezing problem… ‘Home’ and ‘Early Years’. The pages ‘Primary’ and ‘Secondary” are effectively copies of ‘Early Years’ (made using templates in Cornerstone) with minor content differences (different ubergrids). These pages seem to be working OK (including google ads). The only differences between the pages that work and don’t are likely to be very small layout changes made in cornerstone.
I’ve tried using the debugger in Firefox to see where cs-body.min.js is timing out, but it’s beyond my expertise and nothing obvious is jumping out at me.
I hope this helps is tracking down the problem.
Many thanks, Chris.
March 30, 2016 at 2:24 pm #859303Have now installed the newset cornerstone update and have managed to reactivate all my plugins. Still have the freezing problem on the two pages mentioned. Will I have to rebuild them?…the home page will take me a good day to rebuild.
Also, all my sidebars have been emptied of their non-theme x widgets. I will have to rebuild these and recall all their settings etc. Also I will have to edit my css overrides as all the references will change.
Not very happy at all….this is going to cost me two days work at least.
Please advise if I have done something wrong?
March 30, 2016 at 2:40 pm #859337Hi there,
When it comes to javascript, the issue is not always caused by file where the error is triggered. Sometimes, it’s caused by other script running before it.
Your site works except the home page, which I think related to your content affecting cornerstone and not the cornerstone itself. The problem with this is I can’t troubleshoot it since it freezes, and only from the homepage. Please create a dummy page and try to recreate home page content one by one, then remember the last content that will cause the freezing.
Your settings and widgets are reset when you switch theme/child theme. It’s WordPress’s default behavior.
Thanks and let me know.
March 30, 2016 at 4:12 pm #859501Am going throught my site sorting out all the issues…..won’t be changing theme again!…thanks for pointing out that issue for me.
Haven’t got to the home page yet, but there is an alignment issue with a particular image on other pages (this is not related to any widget issues etc)…as an example on this page… http://edgazette.co.uk/higher-education/
You’ll see an image that displays the logo for the Department for Education about half way down the page on the left (named dfe-img in cornerstone). It has become oversized, and should have a 10px margin inside the blue surround and it’s right hand side should be 10px from the grid next to it.
You guys kindly helped me set it up properly at the end of this thread… https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/placing-button-at-bottom-of-row-in-cornerstone/
Have tried a few options but can’t work out how to get it sized correctly again.
Many thanks, Chris.
March 30, 2016 at 11:06 pm #860078Hello Chris,
To resolve this issue, please add the following css code in the customizer, Appearance > Customize > Custom > CSS
.x-section .x-container.marginless-columns .x-column { position: relative; }
We would loved to know if this has work for you. Thank you.
March 31, 2016 at 1:55 am #860267Thanks…works great except it has no effect in firefox?
Regards, Chris.
