Is anyone using the Shopify BUY NOW button successfully with X and Cornerstone?

I am experiencing two huge problems in my testing that are really frustrating.

    1) When you paste the Shopify BUY NOW button into cornerstone environment (In a raw code box or text box) the box will vanish making it near impossible to work to design the page it resides on. I saw some posts about switching over to skeleton view, but that view is tricky to design with.

    2) I could fight through that though but when I load my test page and click the ADD TO CART button, shopify brings a cart on screen that slides in from the right. This motion SHIFTS the page under it to the left making the site look terrible. This seems to be happening in Safari. When you close the cart and the cart slides off screen, the page under it does NOT move back in place… and often vanishes completely.

I talked to shopify and they of course point the finger at wordpress theme. But I imagine the theme people can pretty easily point the finger right back.

Seems like this product would be AMAZING to get working as I am not happy with any e-commerce solution for my needs so far. Anyone else fighting through this and getting it to work?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for writing in.

Preview is based on outputted content, hence, its height and visibility depend on the content added to it. By default, cornerstone will add default height to the element with no content yet, that way, the user can select and drop/add elements to it. But if the content/code decided to be hidden without dimension, then the height will be zero and not visible at all.

Cornerstone has no control to all content especially if they are from other authors. But I could check it for you, maybe I can recommend something. Would you mind providing your site’s URL and admin login credentials in private reply?

    Thanks!

As of last week none of my previously working Buy now buttons from Shopify work when embedded on X theme. So frustrating.

I experienced the Cornerstone vanishing act too; but could deal with it as i was just adding the shopify embed code to a text element, not a lot needed to see.

HOWEVER now Shopify has released an update and all new buttons will not appear. Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would continue here so as not to double up (hopefully this is okay?)

I’m working with Shopify to figure out a solution as I am losing money, so will post any work around’s if found. But it seems to be some sort of breakdown between their plugin ‘Shopify eCommerce Plugin – Shopping Cart’.

Being able to see the buy now button within Cornerstone would be a fabulous addition, but at this rate I’d just like it to work :/

    SOLVED: Update as at 8/11/2016

As of the Shopify upgrade to the buy now button last week, use of the embed code generated by Shopify needs to be as follows:

    1. Cornerstone users should now use the ‘Raw Content’ element, instead of ‘text’ element as per Shopify’s instructions. This allows the CSS coding in the embed code to be picked up.

    2. The buy now button will display in the Cornerstone live preview if using the Raw Content element above.
