    Hi,
New here. I feel sorry for my question but after 3 hours playing, reading and viewing video’s I can’t find how to create my first home page, but now know a lot about colors and fonts of X, great, but at first I need a homepage.

Goal: A home page, Icons, like the picture, with tabs.

1 I downloaded the demo content but in my dashboard there is no page with all shortcodes for homepages,
2 In the Stacks I have choosen for -Icons and see a home page in my dashboard/ page with the layout of Icons, but:
    – there are no tabs in it
    – no idea where to place the logo
    – I found tabs in visual composer but they look vertical and not the wished horizental ones.
    – The picture with tabs in the demo -home icons- is white, I would like it colored, is this picture only a demo and not available for use?
    – Where to set the copy right, all rights?

3 In this forum, Demo Content, I cannot find the short code of the sales piture with tabs.

Hope you can direct me to the icons home page template of the sales picture.

Hi Anna, you’re no alone. I am a new user and I am also struggling with the same issues. This is the most awesome theme that I have ever seen but it’s quite a but different than all other themes that I have used and it’s a lot to take in.

I have gone through all of the tutorials (granted, while I was a bit sleep deprived) and it seems like what is missing is the ability to open an existing version of a completed site and pick apart how it was put together.

Before purchasing X I was under the impression that I would have access to the 30 demo sites and I could load them and use them as a building block for my own site. After poking around for a few hours I do not think we have access to them. It seems like if we did it would make getting up to speed so much easier.

    Hey,

You can easily recreate all 30 demos within minutes. I will guide you through those steps so you can start enjoying X.

The first thing you have to do is going to the Demo Content section in the member area and downloading the Homepages demo content and the Customizer Settings of the installation you want to recreate. Once you’ve downloaded and unzipped both files you will have a .html file and a .json file.

Now go into your WordPress admin panel and go to Pages > Add New and open the .html file with an editor of your choice and copy paste the content of the .html file into your newly created page. Once you’ve done that publish the page and then click on Customizer > Import – now select the .json file you’ve downloaded and unzipped previously so all your customizer settings will be the same as in our demo.

After you’ve done those two things go to Settings > Readings and click on Set a static front page and select the newly created page from you. Now your homepage looks exactly like on our demo installations.

Note: If you’re using the Visual Composer you will have to wait till monday when we push our new update 1.7.1 which will support Visual Composer demo templates then you can use and tweak all the demo installations inside the Visual Composer. The current demo content is only working in the normal text mode.

Setting the logo and footer text is very easy. Just click on Customizer and go to the Header section and upload a new logo. The same goes for the Footer. Go to Customizer > Footer > Footer Content and type in your copyright text.

Hope this helps if you need anything else let us know!

Thanks for the info. I see the problem now. I went through the video tutorial for installing the demo content and it instructs you to locate the demo content file on your hard drive and import it. Since the demo content was in my original Envato download I never bothered to look in the demo content area within the support site, thinking that I had already installed it all.

I would suggest adding a sentence to your Demo Content tutorial page that says something like: Visit the Demo Content page where you can download more than 30 Child Themes that can be used as building blocks for your website.

I am afraid that I hijacked Anna’s original questions.

    Hi,
Thanks for your anwer and time to help “us”, it’s good to notice that there are more people with too expectations. The add just tells us it’s so easy (great marketeers), but it takes time and a lot of different steps getting started. With regard to our confusion, the documentation is clear, from a certain point. Using the X dashboard needs unexpected time. I love intuitive working but in this case a list with steps 1,2,3,4 could be helpfull.

Footer and Logo are clear, sorry, I saw them but also expected to find them under appearence or a separate theme options tab within the traditional dashboard.

Please can you tell me the home page number of the themeforest add?

Your answer:—Customizer > Import – now select the .json file you’ve downloaded and unzipped previously so all your customizer settings will be the same as in our demo. —

I asume I still have a beginners problem = importing the demo homepages, importing the -.json Where can I find the .sjon I only see the html. By opening the demo content it gives a lot of codes…..

Kind regards to all of you, Anna

    Hey Anna,

If you scroll all the way through the Demo Content page, you will see an option at the bottom for Customizer imports. As the directions on this page state, you must uncompress the downloaded .zip file and upload the .json file at Customizer > Import in the WordPress admin panel. This will import the settings of any of our demos for you.

    Thanks.
