I’m using search to find a word I know is unique and none of the results returned include any occurrence of the word inside cornerstone accordions, and there should be several.

    Is this usual behavior?

If so, does this mean that Google and other indexers are likewise also not finding text inside accordions to index?

My initial post wasn’t as helpful as it could have been. I’m performing the search on my site (x integrity) https:kallmaker.com

The search terms are “buzztastic” or “paparazzi”. The returned results are blog posts. What isn’t returned are portfolio items where the words appear inside accordion content created with cornerstone. Accordions with the words that should return in the results are set to both “open” and “closed” on page load.

For example https://kallmaker.com/all-about/stepping-stone/ and https://kallmaker.com/all-about/captain-of-industry/ the accordion for “Author’s Notes” is open on page load and yet neither page shows up search results for “buzztastic”.

On this page https://kallmaker.com/all-about/stepping-stone/ the word “paparazzi” is in the closed accordion “Excerpt” and doesn’t return in a normal search. I tried emptying my page caches but that made no difference to the results and besides, I’m the admin and I’m not supposed to see cache versions anyway. Jetpack’s Photon is off.

So if the built in search function skips the contents of accordions (which is problematic enough), are Google’s bots skipping them too or possibly regarding them as hidden spam content?

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! Google will crawl your pages and there is no effect for that (https://snag.gy/hjZS1a.jpg).

With regard to WordPress search, try using a plugin like this (https://wordpress.org/plugins/fulltext-search/). Also go through the following resource (https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/dont-waste-time-improving-your-wordpress-site-search/).

    Thanks!

Thank you for the reassurance. I should have thought of a Google site search myself. The references are also both helpful, thank you for those as well.
