wernerParticipanthi, there,
http://sprecher-berlin.com
wordpress 4.5
x: 4.2.2
cornerstone: 1.2.4i ran into some odd behaviour of the x-installation after my recent update to x-version 4.2.2: the revslider-plugin’s gone completely, i.e. it disappeared from the plugin-section of my back-end.
during the installation routine a warning informed me that the plugin couldn’t be updated because it couldn’t “be found” in the plugins directory. it used to be there all the time since its very first installation months ago.
now that’s what i call tricky and i cannot troubleshoot this one on my own. please, support me getting my installation up and running again!
thank you so much!

wernerParticipantthe issue is now fixed.
this is the solution i found:
1. the installation routine in fact emptied the directory in wp-content/plugins/revslider.
2. so this left the updated theme with an “invisible/void” revslider-plugin; since invisible/inaccessible it couldn’t be activated in the plugins back-end panel of wordpressas a consequence.
3. in the addons panel the slider revolution plugin had to be selected and installed once again (as if it was the first time ever); prior to this step, the revslider directory had to be renamed, otherwise the installation command would return a “unknown-error/-unable-to-create-directory,-because-it-already-exists”-message.
4. the installation procedure of the slider revolution addon was followed by its activation in the plugins back-end panel of wordpress.
5. only then the revslider plugin would work as usual; luckily no contents was lost (so the database contents wasn’t corrupted by the reinstallation and all the links and calls for actions worked just fine again.)
6. finally, the renamed “empty” (hence useless) revslider directory had to be/could be deleted from /wp-contents/plugins.
7. to sum it all up: the update procedure of x-4.2.2. contains a bug resulting in emptying the revslider plugin in /wp-contents/plugins without reinstalling and reregistering it upon successful updating all the other components of the x-theme; unfortunately without instructing the user to reinstall the defunct plugin later via the addons-panel of the x-installation.
it would be great if future releases would take this unwanted behaviour into consideration!thank you for bearing with me!
kind regards!

JackKeymasterHi there werner,
Thanks for writing in and I’m glad to hear you got this fixed and thanks for sharing your resolution! ๐
I have tested this on my own development environment and wasn’t able to replicate the Rev Slider issue, though we’ll certainly investigate and include a patch in the next release if needed ๐
Thank you again!

wernerParticipantyou’re very welcome!
i suspect that it was the deactivation of the theme prior to its update that caused the malfunctioning of the update.
i kind of stuck to the oldschool approach of deactivating the theme before updating it; that might be an obsolete practice…
…maybe the update installer requires a “running” theme to function properly…
it’s only a guess, but maybe that caused the confusion of the installation program…
cheers!
