Hey guys!
I have a really strange thing happening with my homepage full screen slider. It seems to work absolutely perfectly on all devices and browsers, apart from using Chrome on Android phones. See the attached screenshot.
Do you guys have any thoughts? Thanks π

Thanks for the additional information.
I’ve checked this on Android using Chrome and it’s working perfectly for me on your site (Screenshot attached).
Can you let me know what version of Android and Chrome you are running please?
Thank you!

Thanks!
October 2, 2015 at 4:21 am #607829Wow – I’m loving how quick this is! Thanks again for checking.
I’ve tried it on 3 separate phones. The i9305 and SM-G900I look like the original screenshot.
The SM-A500Y looks brings it up slightly differently, but still wrong!See the additional screenshots for the info you requested π
October 2, 2015 at 5:20 am #607898Hi Conor,
Thanks for the additional information! I’ve done some further tests but haven’t been able to replicate yet.
I’m running Android 5.1.0 on a HTC M9. I’ve also checked with Google Chrome emulation as a Samsung Galaxy S3 matching the specific setup you posted above (see attached screenshot) and that’s also working fine.
Certainly strange it still isn’t working for you, do you have any other devices you could check or? Also it’s possible a app is effecting the rendering, could you try disabling any browser add-ons/apps on the Samsung Galaxy S3 please?
Thank you! π
October 2, 2015 at 5:34 am #607919Hey,
Thanks for the testing! π
Yeah I’ve done the same emulation, but I’ve only been able to replicate it on the actual device. Very strange.
As far as I’m aware there aren’t any chrome add-ons or apps I’m using. And it works fine on the native android browser. Again, very strange.
And unfortunately I don’t have access to any other android devices. I downloaded chrome onto my wife’s iPhone 5s and it worked perfectly though.
What makes it all the more frustrating is that all the other website pages have sliders at the top too, and they work fine. They aren’t set to be full screen though, so it seems to be the full screen setting that’s the issue. Maybe?
Thanks
again!October 2, 2015 at 7:42 am #608031Hi there Conor,
Thanks for the additional information!
I’ve tried to do some further tests and it’s still working this end. I wondered if it was down to the Android version itself, so I flashed Android 4.4 onto my mobile and it still works, so it definitely isn’t that.
I’ve also tried it on a Samsung Galaxy S4 and it was fine. Do you know anyone else with a Android device who could check? It could be the full screen slider, but it seems strange it can’t (currently), be replicated on other devices. What happens when you switch the slider from full screen on the homepage, does it display correctly, or is the slide still distorted?
Thank you! π
November 8, 2015 at 9:02 pm #657514Hey guys,
Sorry it’s taken so long for me to reply! I’ve had a lot on my plate.
Anyway, I’ve flashed a different version of android on my i9305 (Android 4.4.4, on MIUI 5.5) and it doesn’t display the background at all (see screenshot). A friend on HTC Desire 310 (android 4.2.2) tested it, and the background appears, just stretched (see screenshot).
So far the devices tested fit into these categories:
NO BACKGROUND
Samsung i9305 (Android 4.3.0)
Samsung i9305 (Android 4.4.4, on MIUI 5.5)
SM-G900I (Android 4.4.2)STRETCHED BACKGROUND
SM-A500Y (Android 4.4.4)
HTC Desire 310 (Android 4.2.2)NO ISSUES
HTC M9 (Android 5.1.0)
HTC M9 (Android 4.4)On the devices where there are issues, when landscape the image shows (see screenshot on i9305 landscape). But when turned back portrait, the image once again disappears.
What happens when you switch the slider from full screen on the homepage, does it display correctly, or is the slide still distorted?
I changed the slider to full-width, and tested on Samsung i9305. The background image appears (yay), but is stretched (not so much yay). See the screenshot….
Any more ideas?

November 9, 2015 at 2:00 am #657703Hi there,
Another support here and confirmed your issue on my note 2’s chrome. Seems like the issue is related to css’s background size in which in version we’re using (specific to OS) has this problem. It’s rendering glitch when using very large image for fixed positioned element.
I created a test slider here http://www.tentpegmissions.org/sample-full-slider/?cornerstone=1 and once I changed the background size to contain, it works, but not ideal. Then, the main factor that contribute to this glitch is image resolution. It’s currently 5472×3648, it’s quite heavy for mobile’s rendering engine specially with effects. I changed the background image to smaller version and it works.
I select Entry-Fullwidth instead of Original Size. But, it’s best to use Original Size with smaller resolution.
Again, please check what I did here http://www.tentpegmissions.org/sample-full-slider/
Cheers!

I’ll always remember this now haha
Once again – thanks.
