Hello i wanted to create a new slider with “Revolution Slider” (version: 4.1.4) and unfortunately after choosing name & alias when clicking on “Create Slider” i get a message —- Ajax Error!!! error —- I have a fresh installation of wp (version: 3.8.1) and latest version of “X” (version: 1.7.4).
Any idea what this problem could be?
Thanks in advance
February 20, 2014 at 9:14 am #16336Hey Jon,
Thanks for writing in.
Please see this http://support.ait-themes.com/support/topic/10706
Hope that helps. 🙂
February 21, 2014 at 4:11 am #16644Unfortunately changing the permissions to admin-ajax.php and giving complete access to all groups (read write execute) didn’t work. (Console is still returning a 403 error “forbidden”)
I did a fresh install of wordpress and “X” theme and it didnt work.
Removed plugin and istalled it again and it didnt work.
Checked if some other plugin conflicts with revolution slider but that was not the case because i tried deactivating plugins one by one and it didnt help.
The plugins i am using are pretty common plugins (“akismet”, “ultimate coming soon” & the plugins which are bundled with the theme).
Btw i have one more website running on the same configuration but with an earlier version of “x” (1.7.0) and it works fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

any chance you can give us the address of your site and WordPress login information so we can take a look at it on our own?

After logging into your site I can indeed see the following error in the JavaScript console:
POST http://volisfarm.gr/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php 403 (Forbidden)
Have you tried re-uploading this file to see if that fixes things? Also, if you are encountering a 403, 500, or 503 error, we have found that this is typically due to security settings or permissions errors with the server. For this particular situation, you will need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to ensure that your file permissions are set correctly. Additionally, this could be related to a ModSecurity rule being triggered due to a combination of keywords used in the core WordPress files. This should be able to be remedied by writing into the support team at your host and asking them to whitelist the ModSecurity rules on your domain.
Thanks!

The problem was indeed due to a ModSecurity rule. The hosting provider fixed it and now everything works fine.
Thanks for the help

August 11, 2015 at 12:25 pm #356179I’ve got the same problem as Jon. When I upload a new image to the revolution slider I’ll get an Ajax Error!!! When I look at the logging, I see it’s an 501 error of the ajax-admin.php file. I checked the permissions and I tried to add an .htaccess file but nothing did solve my problem.
Hope you can help me out.
August 11, 2015 at 1:32 pm #356241Hi Albert,
Thanks for writing in! After reviewing the information provided above, I would try checking with your hosting provider on this particular issue as it sounds like something related to your setup is causing this. Typically, this is due server configuration problems (i.e. underpowered, traceroute issues, packet loss, permissions errors, et cetera). Additionally, your host will be able to diagnose things much better due to the fact that they have a more complete view of your account and can work behind the scenes with you. If the problem you are experiencing persists after working with your host, don’t hesitate to let us know and we will be happy to assist you. Any relevant information that you can share with us from your host is also greatly appreciated as it will help us to better ascertain the source of the problem.
Thanks!
August 11, 2015 at 1:33 pm #356242I solved it by myself. It had something to do with the image-encoding.
August 11, 2015 at 2:49 pm #356300Glad you’ve sorted it out.
Cheers!
