I had a full screen slider on my homepage before the recent update and it has now completely disappeared. I think it had a background video set in video composer with the rev slider overlaid onto it. All the coding is the same but after the recent updates it simply doesn’t show up at all.

I will send login details shortly but it would be really good to get this sorted out ASAP please.

    Hi there Steve,

Thanks for writing in, I’m seeing that the Revolution Slider code is being output on the page but isn’t actually displaying which is certainly not right.

Can you try disabling and clearing your Cloudflare cache please? As this could impact on the page showing correctly once updates have been done. If it still doesn’t show after that, can you provide FTP details in a private reply please so we can debug what’s happening here.

    Thank you!

I have an older test environment set up at the link below which should show you how the site should / did look before the recent updates.

    Hi there Steve,

Thanks for providing the information. After further investigation there’s a jQuery error from Revolution Slider, preventing the Slider from showing/working.

This is most likely because of the WordPress 4.5 issue, which updated the copy of jQuery shipped, which has caused issues with the Syntax in some plugins/themes. Though it can also be down to a conflict.

Can you please try disabling everything apart from Visual Composer, Cornerstone and Revolution Slider and see if the Slider still doesn’t show?

    Thank you!

This has nothing to do with the wordpress 4.5 update. The error happened after updating the X theme and plugins. I only did the WordPress update a day after updating the theme and bundled plugins.

This is really annoying as it broke when I updated all the bundled plugins and X theme so I would have preferred it if these were checked before the update was released. We are told if we don’t update everything then there are security risks but when we do update it breaks our site!!

I will try to disable all the other plugins now but I don’t see what difference it will make?

I have just restored the rev slider plugin from an old backup and the site is working again so I guess that is the culprit.

I would like to be able to keep the plugins up to date so is there any way to see if this issue can be fixed?

Maybe I can try to replicate it on the test site?

Please let me know what would be the best way to fix the issue?

    Hi there,

Sure, please duplicate your site into test/staging site. It’s best to test out updates before moving it live. Each user has their own setup and we aren’t sure the effect of each update for each setup due to many contributing factors.

    Thanks!

Sorry to be a pain, but I tried to upload the newer versions of the plugins to the test site and now it just displays error messages when I try to access it.

“Warning: Cornerstone_Element_Orchestrator::add | Failed to add element: block-grid-item. An element with that name has already been registered. in /home/eyenet/public_html/test/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/includes/classes/elements/class-element-orchestrator.php on line 170”

Is there something I can do to restore the site to how it was before? or do you know why this is happening?

    Hi there,

How did you update CS? Seems like you’ve tried to replace new folder with old one. Please remove cornerstone folder from host files, visit x addons menu and cornerstone will be installed automatically.

    Hope it helps.

thanks, that did the trick. I can’t seem to update any of the rev slider / visual composer plugins though. I get the following errors when trying to update them:
    “Updating Plugin Slider Revolution (1/2)

An error occurred while updating Slider Revolution: Update package not available.
Updating Plugin WPBakery Visual Composer (2/2)

An error occurred while updating WPBakery Visual Composer: Update package not available.”

I also cannot install any of the other X addons either. When I try to do this I get the following error:
“Error encountered. Details – No package provided”

Do I need to do something to allow updates to happen on the test site?

    Hi there,

I was able to install content dock plugin in http://eyetooth-art.co.uk/, but if you’re referring to other URL, please revoke API key and validate your site again.
    Check this link : https://community.theme.co/kb/product-validation

    Hope it helps.

I have tried to add and remove the domain name http://www.eyetooth-art.net/test as the development url for my license but it makes no difference at all. I still cannot update or install any plugins bundled with x.

I will send login info for the test site in a private message below this one and maybe you can tell me why this is not working?
